The Drivers Edge?

Has anyone been to one of these schools? They have dates at Texas World Speedway, Motorsports Ranch, and Texas Motor Speedway. You get to drive your own car/truck and it's less than $300.00 for two days. To good to be true? I really want to do a road racing school but I want to do it on my on Truck. Nathan, you interested? Web site says they fill up fast and sold out every event last year! Looking for someone that has been there done that.

My buddy has been to a couple of the TWS events in his M5. He's loved it and is going back this weekend. I'm sure I'll go myself as well. He's had nothing but good things to say about it. You get an instructor with you in the car until you graduate to couple of higher levels.

P.S. When you get your truck and Roush kit installed, could I go for a ride in it? I had a Roush kit on my truck for a week in '01; but it bottomed out the suspension too easily.

Edward, you can ride in it anytime! I have talked to Twisted99 several times about this (bottoming out). From what I have been told it does NOT bottom out if the correct bump-stops are installed.....at least I hope not. I'm going to be VERY disapointed if the Roush kit is not just about perfect.

Twisted, The front springs are on back-order. I have everything else.....oops, forgot, my truck is to be built the week of 2-17-03.

What do you think about Edward's bottoming out problem? Travis had told me about someone that had installed the Roush kit then removed it in just one week??????????????

That sounds like the driver's schools(Porsche, Corvette, or BMW clubs) that I use to drive in. Same price with club members as instructors. Can be a lot of excitement/fun.

You will use up your brake pads and tires fairly quickly. Best if you can use 'road course' tires from BFG, Yokohama, etc.

Jerry,

My guess is that Travis was talking about me. I had the suspension on for a week; and then it had to go. I drove down to Corpus and I was just beaten up by the ride. I tried shorter bumpstops - the ones that SoCal uses on the their drop - but they didn't help. However, reading some recent post about people using their front bumpstops on the rear makes me want to reconsider the Roush kit. I think that the MCU (microcellular urethane) OEM stops will bottom much less harshly than the regular urethane bumpers I used. That and the fact that it's now $400 cheaper than what I paid.

Nathan, the web site is WWW.thedriversedge.net
I would like to make the March 1 and 2 at TMS but my truck is not scheduled to be built until 2-17-03. I could take the 99 but I just did the brakes so I could sell it. Motorsports Ranch is 4-12 and 4-13 I should be ready by then. Texas World Speedway is 5-31 and 6-1 but that track is 2.9 miles long (or something) and I had enough brake problems on the short TMS track. Let me know what you think. My e-mail is JJordan@picofab.com if you want to take this off line.
