Angry Another streak of bad luck, Busted up another vehicle tonight

None of you will believe this but, if you watch the news you will probily hear about the freezing rain Alberta, Canada got. Well I was a victum of it.
It is Sunday night and I was on my way home on the highway driving my Navigator doing about 70 KM/H and the roads were a sheet of ice, I noticed a car ahead start to slide sideways and starting right for me well, I have one hand on my Hand control and one on the steering wheel and as this large Sedan is sliding sideways toward me my first instinct is to hit the ditch due to the fact I could never live with myself if I ever hurt or killed someone, I took out 3 sections of fence and ended up 200 yards in a farmers field with one steaming Lincoln.
I called road side assistance and my Dad and both came to the rescue. Upon Dads arrival he helped me out of the Navi and between him and the tow truck driver got me to his truck. After they got the Navigator to the shop we determined that the truck will probily need to be repainted due to the barbed wire scratches, Need new bumper and grille those fence posts are Tamerack and therefore are very hard, all the snow pushed the lower radiator hose into the fly wheel therefore sanding a hole in it. Motor damage is not likely due to the fact the temp guage never got over halfway.
Anyways I' am just fine and quite pissed off. As for the Bit** that flew into the ditch she said it was a good thing I got out of her way and thanked me but, she says don' t expect her insurance to cover the damages to my Lincoln. As you can imagine the Lawyer will be notified first thing this morning.
Question:
Are some people just born with bad luck or do I do have a magical way on screwing things up?

Help me out here.

Pat/badluck

Dam Pat,
This is not good reading
But look at it the other way, if you hadn't been alert of what was going on around you, and you didn't get out of her way, only God knows what would have happen.

I'd say it's good luck you have "and not bad". I know it sucks having another accident so close to the terrible one that left you using hand controls in the first place. But I also believe if it wasn't for good luck, you may not have made it through that accident at all.

You gotta be like me, never leave the house
"Except for work and the race track"

Sorry to hear this Pat, BUT glad to see your driving skills can still safe a life

Good or Bad Luck

I think Luck is relivent to how your outlook on life is. If you look at this as bad for your truck, yes it is. But if you look at it as good that you didn't hit anything harder and still have your life to boot. i would say it's good.
I just try to see the best in things to keep from attracting bad luck!

I came to this revelation back in school when I would get depressed and make myself sick by thinking I was so miserable I should be feeling sick. If you think it, it will happen.
Another example: If you argue with your wife and mention divorce all the time, it will eventually happen.
In my house, we don't mention the D-word.
i went through that already and if you say it, IT will happen!

Good to hear your ok though. Maybe you'll get a better paint job out of it, or maybe some kool mods from having to have your truck fixed.

We had trouble with my friends '03 6.0L Excursion in the ice the other night, barely made it off the offramp... did a little "zig zag" pattern around the whole thing...drive up, slide down, drive up, slide down, sawtoothing along until we got to some asphalt on the other side.

Sorry to hear about your accident, and I'm glad you're ok. Hopefully you can get the Navi fixed back to better than new. I wouldn't count on her insurance company ponying up any dollars though. With no actual collision her insurance company will probably tell you it's all speculation why your accident happened. Good luck though and hope everything works out.
