Question Best Mods and Boost Bypass

I am about to recieve my 99 White lightning and I was wondering 3 things. First what are the best upgrades to start out with, as my truck is coming completely stock. Second what would it take to drop a 99 L into the 12's, and Third is it better to buy a boost bypass valve or simply unplug the wire for dumping boost and were is the wire for bumping boost at and how do you disable it? Thank you for your help

Congrats 99Whtlghtnng
Best of Luck with it.

Here's the picture of the Plug you asked about

Just unplug it, it's easier, and you get the same results as the bypass. As for Mods, Filter-Chip-n-Pulley are the first performance Mods to do. 4lb Pulley should get you in the 12's, a 6 will make it easier and is the most you should consider for a daily driver. You'll need to put colder plugs in it also (thats a must), I like Denso, IT-22's.

How about

IMO the perfect addtion to chip, pully and afilter would be Factory Tech valve body and 4x4 pan... it makes for goodyear shredding shifts 1-2 at WOT...very cool

Welcome aboard. Glad to see another Oklahoman. I unplugged the boost bypass and have had no problems. Everyone here raves about the Factory Tech valve body. I ordered it last week. It will be my first mod.

If you could see how restrictive those stock cast iron manifolds are, you would understand. But the LT's are pricey.

But, I would do the chip/filter/pulley route first

I don't think they are that restrictive. They might look it but I know of people that have run very low 12's on bone stock exhaust......with only $1500 in mods.

So have I, but I haven't seen any 10 sec Lightning with stock exhaust

All the ones I've seen have the Long Tubes, not that I'll be running 10's or even 11's

Is there any down sides to the boost bypass mod.I went out and unpluged mine will it set any codes? I don't understand the bypass setup anyway my m45 eaton bypass did not have this option just vaccume control. Good to 10-11psi @ 17,750rpms(the blower that is).
