close call with dyno

Not a Lightning thing but, a speed thing. yesterday the business behind mine builds and dynos motors. A flywheel came loose (during a full pull) and grenaded the bell housing and sprayed parts thru his walls and roof. 2 small peices came thru my walls but another peice about 2" x 1.5" came thru the back wall, grazed the ceiling which sent in down and ended up hitting a metal cabinet (about 80ft across shop, put a dent about 1" deep and ripped the file cabinet and bounced back across the shop. 80 ft. after penetrating 2 metal buildings. lucky no one was hurt. there was a guy working very close to the wall all day but he left early.
If you are around an engine dyno be carefull where you stand! made me what kind of mishaps happen with the rear wheel dynos

That story gives me an eerie feeling just reading about it! Whew!!!

I work in a machine shop--you'll never know how fast old grown men can move til something gets slung out of a surface grinder or some other machine!

Also reminds me of the stories of gas cylinders getting knocked over and the top breaks off and the cylinder goes through the wall.

It just reminds ya that something COULD go wrong at any moment of any day. We should count our blessings!

Brick wall comes to mind when I read this.

In the Machinery handbook, they ran a cast flywheel almost 2 feet in dia until it exploded. Parts went 5 miles!
