Traction bar preload?
I just finished installing Metco lower links.
The instructions only tell me that "preload is a matter of taste." That does nothing to help a newbie like me.
Other than the occassional stoplight drag,
my truck is 95% street use and 5% road race/autocross. Hotchkis rear springs (1.75" rear drop). No pinion shims.
Right now I have the preload set just to where there is a slight outward force. In other words, I just adjusted the length of the bar until it was exerting rearward pressure on the axle mount and forward pressure on the front mount.
Should I adjust it any differently?
Thanks

Did you actually remove the whole axle to paint it? And what type of paint did you use?
I have to do that, I'm sick of looking at rust

The wheels are Moda F5s from the Tire Rack. My standard disclaimer is that the finish on the machined surfaces is terrible--the clearcoat is horribly orange peeled, so be prepared to spend some money, time, or both to work that out. I have not done anything about it yet, but it sickens me every time I get close enough to see it.
Tim: Masterloggie just installed the Metco links on his 2000 L. He had a harsh, bumpy, ride until he readjusted his but I d/k how much pre-load, if any, he ended up with???
