Fuel filters.......Continued

OK, so I no longer own a Lightning (think 05) but as I did have the 99 for three years I still hang out here.

Took my Blackwood in for the 10K service today and had them change the fuel filter as a normal PM thing. We have bad winter gas in the metro Atlanta area and I changed the filter on my L every 5K miles.

I had some issues with the Wood that I did not associate with fuel flow which included a progressively more aggressive shudder at idle (Gator motors have known problems with motor mounts and I am about to get mine changed) and a "stutter" under full throttle acceleration once well under way as when merging onto an interstate for example. Did not seem to occur when going full blip from a standing start.

Anyway, the stutter/stagger is now completely gone and it is also quicker off the line even if no tire burner. As well, the shudder has been reduced by at least 50%.

Bottom line for me is whether it costs 12 bucks or 26 bucks (love those Lincoln parts prices) it seems to be a very smart addition to the normal oil/filter etc PM routine.

Thumbs up

I agree, after hearing all the stories about fried plugs and lean conditions. I am going to start changing my fuel filter every 5,000 miles or sooner. It's cheap insurance! Jim

Don't I know it

BTW,
Less than 6k on fuel filter, less than 500 miles on plugs
