chrome calipers...possible?
Me and one of my firends were just chatting and got into painting calipers. We wondered if there is a way to chrome them or maybe polish them of any sort? this is most likely a stupid post, and after I get 3 replies saying I am an idiot for asking, this thread can be closed(haha)..Thanks

You could do it. Basically, have the entire calipar torn down ( all seals and pistons ). Send it out and make sure its triple plated. Before they ever chrome it, it will need to be sanded well. Once you get it back from the chromer, you can have the calipar rebuilt.
The only downside to this is that without constant polishing of the chrome, it will start to discolor due to heat. Look bluish/purple.

SSBC now offers a big brake kit with polished calipers.

what's there to follow -
I'm not saying powder coat to look like chrome - I'm just stating powder coat is another alternative.
(no offense) but I would expect you would find chrome calipers on a "rice toy" maybe you can post up something on an Mits eclipse or Honda board those guys may be able to steer you in the right direction... just trying to help, Bro...

As it's been said already, you COULD do it, but would you want to. Chrome plating significantly reduces the coefficient of heat transfer of an object, and your calipers would basically store more heat, because they would be unable to dissipate it quickly. You would basically be doing the worst coating possible for brake performance. If you want shiney, you should polish, not chrome.
