Question Stepped on the gas and nothing!

First I want to thank you all for all your help and info.
It was because of a thread I read a while back that I was able to get my truck going today. The temp out side was 21* and I pulled the truck out and let it warm up. After about 10 min. I got in it and started down my drive and when I hit the road I gave it the normal 45 mile up to speed punch and nothing! It was as if I had no air- flow. I pulled back in the driveway and tapped on the sensor or valve thing on the passenger side of the super charger. The truck immediately gained power again. I did a search for power loss and did not find the thread I read on this problem. Does any one remember which thread it was or if you posted what to do about this please let me know?
Thanks again, Suavy [img]

Are you referring to the IAC valve? It's a bright-metal tomato can device, bolted to the intake adaptor. If it get's dirty or worn internally, it will cause idle surging and/or dieing.

Yes that's it! I just tapped on the dang thing and gave it the gas again and the blower came back to life. Can you clean this thing or do I have to get a new one?

Peace, Suavy

You can take it off and clean it, but replacing it is the best bet. If your gonna take it off and try cleaning it, be careful to not ruin the little gasket cause you will need to reuse it. Mike

Remove the two bolts(10mm?) and disconnect the connector. Spray a solvent(Brake Cleaner, etc.) into the body of the valve. Let it soak for a few minutes and then shake it back and forth. Someone else(?) posted they were able to get the tip of a small screwdriver in there and lift the valve off of its seat to clean it better. Put it back on see if it's better. If not, get a new one from Ford for about $45--I think???

8mm if you're talking about that thing on the passenger side...
Also, check out the oil in the back port of said device mount-- coming up from the PCV line.
I sprayed throttle body cleaner all in there--figured it was safe to use there as well as aroung throttle body itself.

Thanks for all the info I'll get a new one tomorrow. I was just wanting a plan B for my 76 mile ride home from work tonight.

Peace, Suavy
