Thumbs down Trickflow/edelbrock Modular Hi/po Heads

HI!... There have been a lot of rumors floating around the net that EDELBROCK and TRICKFLOW are coming out with new high performance modular cylinder heads for the 4.6/5.4 TRITON engines. Well I was curious because I don't want to spend $$ to get a set of "P.I" heads fully ported/polished if one of these company's was planning on coming out with better, high flowing heads. So I e-mailed them both and this is their e-mail responses :

Subject: MODULAR HEADS?

HI!....

There have been some rumors going around on the net that EDELBROCK is
currently designing high performance after market cylinder heads for the
4.6/5.4 modular engines. I was just curious if this rumor is true?

Sorry, at this time it is not true.

If it is
when will these heads be ready for sale to the public? I'm currently
building a 5.4L drag race engine for my "99" F-150, and would like to
purchase a pair of your heads before I spend a ton of money to get a race
port/polish job done on my stock "P.I" heads. Any info you can provide on
this subject would be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU

NEAL "THE H.P FREAK" NEWMAN

Thats funny, they did the exact same thing before releasing the 5.0 heads in the 90's. Believe me, its under NDA and they will be releasing heads soon. They would be entirely too stupid NOT to and they know it.

Modular racing is the next big step. Mod motors are creeping up to the pushrod boys with STOCK castings. Wait until you start seeing mods with AFTERMARKET heads.

They wont admit to anyone they are R&Ding 4.6/5.4 heads.

There is a market for them and those companies are in business to make money. There are a lot of Lightning and non-Lightning owners that are looking for 5.4 heads

someone once told me that a good port and polish job can yield just as good as a higher flowing head, but then again this was applied to old skool chevy blocks

That is exactly what Nitto said when I asked them about an 18" Drag radial "We have no current plans to make an 18" Drag Radial" and then 2 months later out comes the 305/45/18 555R.
Go figure!!!

I spoke to Vic Edelbrock Jr. this past summer and asked him that very same question. His response was that they are working on it and more than likely about a year away. I would have a feeling he would have a pretty good idea what they are up to.
