Fog light Lenses cracked

I took my truck to a dealership and they want 300+ just for labor to replace my cracked fog light lenses. Is this normal?? I vaguely remember there being some sort of TSB on the fog light lenses, saying they cracked in the rain if they were on.

How hard is it to replace these damn things if ford wants 300+ to do it (just for labor)?!?

Any help would be appreciated guys. Thanks

Not a TSB as far as I know. I got mine replaced
under warranty several times. With a '99 you
can use the Mustang lights I think. Much cheaper.

It is a cheap and easy fix - order a new lens from Mustangs Unlimited.

Mine cracked on Friday after installing my 4/6 drop kit, so I went and purchased a set of PIAA 959's and they look ****ing sweet! I had the entire hole of the stock fogs cut out, had a bracket welded to both sides of the metal frame that holds the front fascia in place, mounted the lights and wired them to the stock fog light wiring....they look INCREDIBLE. Price of PIAA 959's....$270. Price of install, $150.

Hi!

This happened on my 00 L and I got some from a friend who got them from a Parts U-Pic from an 93 Cobra. I only had one crack...when I did change it out the 93 Cobra Lights hue was different than the L's original one so I ended up swaping out both. It was a real easy swap that took no more than 5 minutes!

Good Luck!

Ian,

The previous owner of my truck paid the following off a reciept I have:

Labor: $119.93
Parts: $123.05
Shop Supplies: $ 11.99
Tax: $ 9.46
----------
Total: $264.43

This is for replacement of 1 Foglight!

These are easy to replace, I think a 12 pack is about what it is worth...each.

It would take 5 minutes to replace a stock fog light on an L. You don't even need to jack up your truck. They pop right out. Don't bother replacing a broken/cracked stock with another stocker because it will break again...and again...and again.

$40 for (2) assembly's

$0 for labor, they are the easiest thing to do. The reproductions just have a different style ground wire connection. Just pop them out with a screw driver and plug in new ones. I have another one cracked, I am getting ready to order another one shortly

Do not have Ford put one in for you for that price, that is rediculous...

Hey chris, did you say that 3M film would be a possible fix for this foglight problem? I need to order some soon if so.

Jon

Thanks for the replies.. Yeah I went and looked closer at them now that I have my truck back, and they are simple to pop out. I just said to hell with it and bought the parts, I'll put them in myself. I'm selling the truck, and told the buyer I'd replace them. Two new tires, and a pair of foglights.. 700 bucks. Bleh.

LightninSVT, You wouldn't happen to know the part number for the two assemblies from Texasmustang.com would you? Just want to make sure I order the right stuff. Thanks for any help or info. Sam

Yes those from TxMustang

will fit but they dont look like the stock lights..
if you get the stockers and put X-pel on them, will they not crack anymore (especially from the inside)?
