Question WOT or not -- How do I know?

Wide open throttle (WOT) is defined as throttle opening greater than 80% as indicated by the throttle position sensor. How do I know am I in WOT or not? How do I know what is value on throttle position sensor? Is there a way to read out that value?

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried searching? I read a lot a while back about adjusting the TPS........it outputs a voltage and the hell I don't remember but say 1 volt was WOT, and it goes down from there. I'm sure you can figure out some way of reading it from inside the cab. I'm pretty sure I'm at WOT when the pedal is on the floor and thats all i really care about myself

This is old, and it I found it in a post about Rangers, so I don't know if it applies to an L, but there is a certain amount of "slop" in the throttle cable that can be taken out by shortening the cable at the pedal end, it supposedly gave you a little more top end. Can't remeber where I read it, but it did definitely work in the Ranger.

I did try searching but search for some reason did not work just an hour ago. Now that is working again (weird, huh?) I found out what it is, and yes you are right, voltage is supposed to be 0-1V, so 80% should be 0.8V.

I want to know when I am exactly at 80% because that is when computer switches from O2 sensor readout to embedded fuel map and thats when I should start watching values of A/F gauges. Idea is like this (and here I am claiming rights on this idea): Get three gauges, one for value of throttle sensor and two for values of O2 sensors (one for each sensor). Hook them up in such way that values on A/F ones are not shown until value on throttle one reaches 0.8V. Display O2 sensor values while you are in 0.8V to 1.0V range and turn them off once you go back to lower than 0.8V. That way you will see if you are leaning out while at WOT without getting dizzy from constant readout of bouncing values when not in WOT. Plus it will be fun watching the show on throttle position every time you press pedal

What you guys say?

This is worthwhile checking out I already put it on my list of things to do.

Thanks!

I don't think there's to much of a gain there? adjust the TPS when its closed and you should be fine.

How do you know it is at 80% and not 79% or 81%?
