Question Need opinions on Explorer problem

My wifes 2001 Explorer Sport 4WD has just developed 3 problems in 2 days and I would like some "gearhead" opinions.
I took the car to Ford and had the IAC (Idle air control solenoid) replaced because the car wouldnt idle. The same day the 4WD engage solenoid went bad. They fixed that at the same time. Now today the gas guage is going up and down and up and down 4 or 5 times in about 50 miles. I asked the Ford Service Advisor if the Tech did a voltage test ehen they were diagnosing the other problems and he said they did but it didnt show anything wrong. I asked him if the 2001 Exp. has a dash pod voltage regulator like my old Tbird had and he said no. So what do you think? Where do you look next? Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

My Exgirlfriend has one(2001 Explorer Sport 4WD) and her temp gauge and oil pressure gauge stick and jump around when the truck is cold. once it warms up everything works fine. It happens the most when the weather is cold.
