Baja Lightning?
Baja Lightning?
I've seen the pics of that one lifted Lightning, which pretty much looked like crap - that's not what I am thinking, before anyone mentions it..
I just got off of the phone, ordering my '99 Skyline GT-R V-Spec... Should be delivered in about 4 months.
Now, here's what I'm looking to do: I want to turn my truck into a baja pre-runner. Has anyone done this before?
Realistically, I'm worried about heat. What do you think I should do to combat desert heat, with the Lightning motor in there? Think it would be ok, running in those conditions?
Otherwise, I already have the body and suspension components picked out... I'll post some pics of what it'll look like later on. Just think "Not like a Lightning".

This is the site where I saw a silver L for sale, find it there. They said something about a 6 inch lift.

Pawn, yeah, ordered from Motorex. It's alot of friggin money, but it's my favorite car of all time, and I got 4½% on the financing, with $30k down... Still a big chunk out of my pocket, but MAN I love that car!
As for the markup, though, it's not that high - retail on the thing is about $70k in Japan. Add in the transportation, modification to the emissions system, etc, it's not bad at all.
Vinnie, that was exactly my thought... I could drop money on the truck, and blend in with the blingers, or I could go my own route.
Nice thing is, with the suspension I found, the truck will only sit a couple of inches higher, but I'll have 24" travel in the front, and 31" in the rear... Still waiting on an email back on the friggin' pricing, though.
Oh well, I guess we'll see what happens!

I think its an excellent idea. No need to even mod it, powerwise. Dale and I were talking about this since he does offroad racing. Just get that suspension worked out and albeit you will even make some magazines!! Keep us updated. BTW, Skylines are badass.
i wouldnt think it would need to be just any lift. It would need to be a tuned suspension to take advantage of the suspension travel.I would get like a 2lb pulley anda chip tuned for this application. then get all the other basics throttle body, water pump, electric fan, new JDM intercooler, complete exhaust etc. then you will be saying
to the competion.
