Mercon 5 is not compatible with Mercon.

Our manual says not to mix them, and not to use Mercon 5. I asked a few trannie gurus some time ago and they all basically said that some big problems MAY result from using it. IMO it is not worth taking the chance on something that you are not gaining anything from using. I would rather use a synthetic fluid that is Mercon compatible.

Mercon V nd the 4R100

From what I understand the Mercon V has an additive that was designed for the 4R70W shudder and will eat up your clutch packs in the Lightning 4R100 Tranny.

Don't forget to remove the little magnet from the old pan and place in the deep pan. Forgot that the first time around. I think I put in like 13.5 quarts or so for both the TC and tranny. Just get RP Max ATF and don't worry about the whole Mercon debate.
