aftermarket valve springs still having problems

Has anyone, lately, had problems with modmax valve springs breaking?
I saw some posts at corral which have me concerned about getting the springs now.

here

I thought the problem was solved...

I can tell just from the picture of that broken spring (where it is broken), that it's one of the first batch ModMax springs that the spring maker screwed up. There was a tooling mark left on the inside of the spring, that caused a stress point and broke. I sold 4 sets of those springs, and luckily I was able to recall them before the owners installed them. Modmax exchanged them for the new design ones no questions asked. The current ModMax springs work great and I have not heard of any failures.

Well I thought it was resolved too BUT....

I had a bad batch in my engine, but luckily I was warned and was sent a new batch before I got my engine running. Well I have had a problem with the # 1,2,3,&4 cylinders getting to much fuel dumped. I thought it was a computer problem til I took my truck up to RUSLOW's this weekend. The #4 was gas fouled and looked like it had never fired. Stan did a compression check and sure enough it didn't hold 18#'s, so it has got to be a broke spring know doubt. Should be fixed soon........

The engine only has about 10 miles on it and I haven't driven it since November 2001....yes 2001.

JD, keep us informed, if there is a problem, I'd like to know.

Do you know any details on what you were exchanged? The reason I ask is this... The first bad batch of springs was sent back to the spring maker to be double shot peened. When springs are made, there IS a line left on the inside from the winding process. This line is relieved by shot peening the springs. The spring maker wanted to shot peen these twice, to try to fix the problem, instead of eating 100k bad springs. Some of these were sent out, but then ModMax decided to switch to a better manufacturer. I'm wondering if you have the "fixed" bad springs.

I don't know if they were excanged or not. The guy that did all of my headwork called me up and told me that he intalled the bad springs and overnighted me a new Mod Max set. I had them changed out and you knowthe rest already.

Stan is loading my truck up and taking mine and his truck to Jim's in a couple weeks. I talked to Jim already and he said he would do what it takes to fix the problem, even if all of the springs need to be changed.

Whatever I find out, I will post. I don't want anyone to go what I have gone through.

A big lesson I learned is, Don't go through a dealership for anything, go to a vendor/tuner.

Anybody that has only driven their truck 10 miles since Nov 2001 DOESN'T DESERVE to go thru these hassles!

Good Luck getting everything resolved

Also keep in mind that those springs modmax made are generally seeing anywhere from 7000-8500 rpms in Cobras. 5200 RPM wont do much stressing on them. Problem is fixed now though.
