Question ?19 pounds of boost ?

I have 01 Lightning with 13 pounds of boost right now..
And I am going to bump it up to 19 pounds of boost or is 19 pounds of boost to much for the block to handle..What does everyone think.....

Heh... be a tossup which'll launch quicker, the rods heading toward pavement or the plugs reaching for the sky...

Gots to love the stepchild years of '01 and '02...

Well this is a hard one, some trucks dont like the stock 8lbs, and some have seen 18+ and LOVED it. Hard to say what your truck will like.....

If you feel like it will! GO FOR IT!!

I wouldn't go over 16 psi on an 01, if you want to be safe. Just around 450rwhp is where the 01-02 like to send a rod out the side of the block. That doesn't mean yours will or won't, I've seen 01 take more, and I've seen 01s break rods with much less boost. But that's the average safe number.

It's also not easy to get the Eaton to make 19psi if you really wanted to. Once you pass 16psi, it takes huge pulleys and lots of artificially cooled air to build more boost. Most trucks that run more than 16 usually have to be severely detuned to run on pump gas to avoid drivability issues.

boost on '00???

I was thinking of this topic earlier today. Would a '00 be able to handle a 6# or 8# lower and 2# upper at the track only? I was thinking of a quick change lower and upper so that I could run 2# lower, 1# upper on the street for total of 3# extra and then at the track switch it over to the 6#L & 2#U. I could then get the chip burned for street and track. Any input???

19 Lbs

As I say, "If it feels good, Do it". Whats the worst that could happen? Puke a plug or send a rod home.

19 LB's
What a 8lb Lower and a 3 lb upper ???
A 3 lb upper will be too small and cause it to slip on ocassion.
A 8lb lower will be huge and a bit too much if you asked me.
I like the 4 lower 2 upper combo I run.
Why dont you do a 6lb lower and then you can always add a 2 upper later if you decide to. Thats more than enough like Sal says without running into other trouble.

There's always this
