WOW, change your fuel filter if you havent!

I just got through changing my fuel filter. Easier job then I thought, 5 minute job with access to a lift. I used a fram filter. Once I got the old one out i did the "blow" test and the new filter was about double the flow. After I finished changing the filter, I put about 5 gallons of 104 then went and filled up. I swear to you the truck feels like it has 50 more hp. Throttle response is much better. My filter was probably so clogged it was really killing my performance. Im probably going to go for another dyno run and see if Im still running lean on the top. CHANGE YOUR FUEL FILTER!!!!!

I am with ya.... i experienced this about 3 months ago. I had only had my truck about 2 months. bought it used. i though it was fast until i changed that fuel filter. I couldnt believe the difference. I am a converted believer speaking the religion. praise the lord. send your money to Dr. Gene Squat at the crystal comic book cathedral.

sorry... i had an episode.

L8 Apex made a very interesting post about that on talon forums , he said that the 01's and 02's had a 4 micron filter that needed to be changed every oil change, and the 99-00 and 03's have a 10 micron that could be chaged every 10-15k...i might be misquoting though

What the hell do you think Me and Toast have been telling all of you. But does anyone listen, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
Less than 6000 miles on filter

800 miles on plugs
Toast wasn't so lucky, his motor went boom.

5100 miles?

I've got 5100 miles on my 2001 L. Should I go ahead and change my fuel filter? If so, which brand do you recommend and I assume there is a tool I need to buy?

Thanks,
Eric

just had mine

dont this last weekend by L8Apex.. at 10k miles.. I thought you were supposed to do it every 10k miles.. he said mine wasnt too bad and he only uses the OEM Ford part on this one.. not a Fram..
I know NOT to use Fram oil filters (use Mobil 1) but dont know about the fuel filter..

Don't mean to be a A Hole, but we all told you to change the filter. I change mine at least everyother oil change, I have sometime done it at each oil change. If I feel anything weird it is the first thing I do, I had one clogg up after a few hundred miles. You never know when you get a bad tank of fuel.

I carry a extra fuel filter in my track tool box, and have changed the filter a few times at the track. One time a friend said something felt wrong at the trac, so we installed a new filter between runs. He picked up 2 tenths and a few mph.
