A couple years back there was a group buy on the carbon fiber driveshafts. I think the price was about a grand a piece. When they break it aint purty, if you get my drift. No need to replace the nice shiney one you have under your truck

that all sounds pretty good. just a word of advice: get the e-fan but not the waterpump. there was a thread i've looked up to many times to want to do it now, but they tested just the water pump and it actually dropped horsepower a few. most people dyno after installing both, and see gains even though the waterpump is draining energy. i don't think too many on here want to admit it (100 bucks + installation time) but it apparently showed the drop. I won't get one until one shows a nice boost in HP. oh, but you missed a few essentials- built 5.4l 4 valve, KB or Whipple blower, 22's, and a monster box.
Total=eh, about $15K

Hey NateTurn2, I live in Allen and I just got my 03 Lightning two weeks ago. What dealership did you get yours form?

I have an idea of what I want out of my truck but am taking some time to break it in. I have already done the oil seperator mod to keep the intake and intercooler clean. Dallas mustang (1-800-mustang) has a good selection of autometer gages but you will need a gage pod, A-piller or steering column. They can install anything you buy but I would only use them as a last resort (high labor charge, questionable mechanics).

I would be more than happy to help you install the things that I have experience with.( I have a 96 cobra and have just about changed every suspension and intake part on the car at one time or another).

Enjoy your truck!!!

Did I ever say that I love Fast Gator?... well, if not, I'm confessing now. He's one of the more astute members, not to mention funny. I put him in the same catagory as MRBBQMAN, Raoul, and frgetit (Tinnman now).

On the gauge pod, the ones made for 99-02 won't fit just right. They had a mid year change in the A pillar and the late 02 and 03s have a different one, the old one will go with some cutting, but it's not a direct fit item. I have one of the old ones in my late '02 and it's just not right, I'm waiting for someone to make the correct part.
My gauges are Autometer Phantoms, and they're about as close to matching the factory gauges as you'll find.

hey 03Lightning.

Thats really nice of you. yeah, if you do a pretty good job at it ill pay you. I didn't end up with an 03 afterall. I spent 2 weeks solid trying to find the perfect truck for the right price. Finally I found a a black 2002 model with 4,000 miles on it at Middlekauf Ford. I negotiated for 3 days straight on it and i drove it out of there for $28,250 sales tax included. The car fax said it was clean. I wonder why they got rid of it. It has some small signs of personal touches. My interior lights in the doors glow blue. They put bigger tips on and i think some exhaust on it. Still sticking to the plan though. drop me an email sometime. Thanx for the info guys nathan.d.cook@attbi.com

other than ...

a cat-back of your choice and drop shackles - why not just leave it stock - stock is still much, much faster than most anything out there ...
