They must not have looked very hard here for the fastest trucks. 12.91 for the fastest is just average here. It was impressive that the stock trucks were faster than the Cobra and right on the heels of the SS.

I THINK THEY COULD HAVE FOUND SOME FASTER LIGHTNINGS.
Please don't take that wrong if it's your truck, those are all fast *** 1/4 mile times and I congradulate each and everyone of you. I'm not making fun of OUR BAD *** TRUCKS but come on, AND I QUOTE: The four owners we selected had vehicles ranging from stock to modified, and a couple even had 100+ horsepower nitrous oxide systems on them.
(Modified and a couple with Nitrous) Ok lets assume the 12.9 had Nitrous, who else did ???? a 13.2 ??? (2) ran 14.2 ???? and only 2 out of the whole buch did better than the showroom specs ???
My first season out with my 02 Lightning got me a 12.8 with the basic filter-chip-n-pulley (4lb) on F-1's and that was 20 years after my last 1/4 mile atempt as a kid. Mines considered lightly modified by all accounts. I mean WTF kind of test was that. With slicks, bars, my upper pulley, Accu-Fab , Plasma Booster, and some cooling help I have on order right now, I plan on knocking off another 3-5 tenths next time out and see no reason why I won't. That is still considered to be mildly modified, I still won't have a Fan, Cobra Water Pump, Thermostat, Tranny Mod, Exhaust, Juice, or any suspension, shock, or spring mods.
We would kick *** on pretty much ANYTHING out there, other than a Viper, with our Basic filter-chip-n-pulley.
Weird article if you asked me

That story was in the Oct. 2001 issue.
