Thoughts on the blown plug issue to consider....

With all this talk about blown spark plugs and such...has anyone noticed that this is happening mostly to vehicles still under warranty for the most part? I for one plan on keeping this truck a long time and as a result, I live with the fact that there is a pretty good chance of losing a plug. When will it happen? maybe never. But what happens when the plugs start launching when the truck is out of warranty? What I am getting at is that this is a KNOWN problem at Ford and I'll be damned if they will be expecting me to pay the bill out of warranty. Nor, should I be obliged to pay for an extended warranty to cover this. It shouldn't even be happening!! i am wondering how this will be handled but i for one plan to fight if it happens. Myself or even someone else on this board may need your help some day building a case, hehe.

Anyway, just some thoughts and I would be interested in knowing what you guys think.

Tom

Maybe you will get lucky, blow a plug from each head while under warranty and get the new heads that are being made now. I am keeping my fingers crossed, that his happens to me

Serisously though, I've considered this. For me it isnt as big of a deal except that the truck is my daily driver. I figure some day I will have another vehicle, then if a plug blows, well I can fix it whenever ...

look in my photo gallery, there is a black truck there that blew it's first plug at over 40,000 miles.

we had an expedition here at the shop that blew a plug at 90,000 miles!

See, thats my point......I will get a damn lawyer before they make me pay for that. I would be willing to pay for maybe a portion but Ford is crazy if they think I am gonna foot the bill for what is a design flaw in my book.

i am just thinking out loud...don't mind me, hehe.

Check your plugs on a normal basis and make sure they're snug in there. It may not garuantee never launching a plug, but it will help.
