For those that just installed JDM exhaust
I had a problem after installing my JDM exhaust... it vibrates against the area I have circled in the picture. Any idea how I can solve this without a huge headache??
it sounds like maybe you don't have the muffler/x-pipe portion installed far enough forward, or the tailpipe isn't far enough into the mufflers. either that or you got one that isn't quite made right?

actually Don, that pic he posted is of MY truck. it looks worse in the picture because of the angle, the exhaust isn't hitting the spring perch like it appears.
but as for the hangers, you are right, but my mufflers/x-pipe were on as far forward as they would go.
everything lines up properly, but the hangers are a little bent out of shape.
again, I didn't have any instructions, so it's possible I did something wrong? but I had to put those clamps as far back as possible in order to properly clamp the mufflers to the tailpipe section, unfortunately, that caused the metal hanger rods to be a few inches rearward of the optimal position for the rubber hangers.
I'll bring it in today and try to "re-adjust". I hadn't noticed they were that far back, but I don't see how it can be helped. maybe you just got a better fitting kit than I did, or maybe I did something wrong?

Since I took those pics I had all the seems welded and got rid of all the clamps. It looks even cleaner now, and is a little lighter anything to save weight, LOL
So what are you saying Don???? That Shawn likes to install LT's on silver trucks????hhhhmmmmmmmmmm
Lets see. Iam not working and have lots of time to sit at the shop and eat

Sorry guys, I have to use your pictures since I don't have any of my own. This picture shows the spot perfectly...
I get the loud vibration/rattle when I have it in drive with my foot on the brake, or when I am going in reverse. I wish there was something that I could stick in between the two to keep it from making noise.
A little about the installation that I did... I did install it myself and had problems with it not being all the way forward when I first installed it. Secondly, the muffler shop I went to expanded the pipes back out for me, and we re-installed with no problems - tips are lined up correctly and everything. The rear pipes are on the mufflers as far as they can go - I made sure of that when we put it together. Could it be just as simple as bending a few of the hangers so that I can move it out of the way just enough?

93 Cobra- My guess would be it has to be moved forward slightly. Loosen the clamps and take a rubber mallet and knock it forward and see if you can get some more clearance where the vibration is coming from.
We still do make each and every exhaust that leaves here on an actual Lightning, or Harley, etc. This is to assure perfect aligment and ease of installation when you go to bolt it up on your driveway.

Thanks guys. Just so everyone knows, the Silver Bullet system is a great system, and I love it. The problems that I am encountering are from my own installation snafu's. Hopefully I can get this straightened out... I has been on there for about 300 miles, so hopefully I am still able to move it around somewhat.
I couldnt help but notice the pics of Don's Bolt and Superfords trucks. Is it me or does Superfords 03 L have a different style of front hanger for the front of the spring. It just looks different than Don's Bolt L. Those are both Factory hangers in the pics right? I know my Western Chassis hangers dont hang down that low and are powdercoated gray. Does this account for the rear being higher on the 03's?

Orphaner - can you give me a list of what is need to lower my truck like yours? I really like that stance that it has... it seems to be the only one that doesn't look like it's sagging in the back.
well, I brought the truck in to check for the extra threads in the sparkplug hole. while it was in I decided to try to adjust the exhaust.
it isn't going to happen. I need to move the mufflers/x-pipe assembly towards the front of the truck. the only place for movement is the connection between the cat pipes and the front of the x-pipe. there are welds on the x-pipe that prevent the cat pipes from going in farther. It is impossible to move the mufflers farther forward without shortening the ends of the cat pipes.
I went as far as to attach a ratchet strap around the transmission cross member and then around the back side of the x-pipe and tightened down in an attempt to pull the two closer together. it moved less than 1/4 of an inch at the most.
so anyway, all I really succeeded in doing was screwing up the alignment of my tips
.
anyway, I ended up "massaging" the exhaust hanger rods into a position that creates less stress/stretch on the rubber hangers.
thats all.
BTW, my old red '01 truck showed up here at the shop this morning for service with the bassani system still on it.
While the Kooks/JDM headers are top notch and the silver bullet appears to be top notch as well, I still think I prefer the sound of the bassani.
This is totally a matter of personal preference, some people like the color blue, some like red (some like both
) But here is my take, if you want LOUD, get the JDM, it is loud and roaring, the bassani is loud but TIGHTER or sharper sounding. but give me a couple of days for the mufflers to burn in and for me to adjust before I give my final opinion. just my .02, either system is great.

Also it looks like the pipes hit my front spring hanger in the pic, but there is plenty of room there. That is also just the camera angle.
