still haven't pulled a plug to check for extra threads but...

I did find this. I believe this is the "born on date" (for lack of a better term) of my cylinder heads. Supposedly all heads made after mid November have 80% more threads.

thank you ford! finally.

chris

Chris,

Didn't you show us a picture the other day of your head with the usual 4 threads in it ??? I truly hope you have the new style head but now I'm confused ? I thought you already checked ? Someone did check an 03 and post pictures 2 or 3 days ago and it clearly looked like the normal 4 threads deal, I would swear that was your post ? They said Ford will only use the new style heads after all the old style are gone.

Maybe it was someone else ?
Good Luck, hope you do have the new style

no, I haven't pulled a plug yet, I THINK that was 03LightninRocks that did that. the pictures were very hard to see. I'll pull one of mine today hopefully. I left my camera at home, but I'll post info If I get time to do that.

chris

yes, it appears as though the heads were made on 12/07/02, the engine was built on 12/13/02, and the truck was built on 12/18/02 if I remember correctly.

maybe (not wishing this on him) 03LightninRocks engine being built a few days earlier got the old heads?

I don't know, but in any event, I'll pull a plug today and look for myself.

later,
chris

I'm at work man, give me some time. I've got customers.

Actually, it's kind of ironic, I'm doing a transmission service and changing the fuel filter on my old red '01 truck RIGHT NOW. I'm letting it warm up to check the fluid level. the current owner brought it by this morning.

chris

BTW, the bassani sounds damn good

Is that Kooks headers you have on there already? If so is that your only mod so far? Would love to know if you feel any power differance.

Hilander, I've got to answer that with a definate "I don't know".

Unfortunately I didn't finish putting them on until late last night, and after working what amounted to a 15 hour day, I went home and went to bed.

I only live 1.5 miles away from work, so it wasn't much of a test drive.

I SHOULD (the dyno people can't seem to tell me if they have an opening or not ) have the truck on the dyno tomorrow and have some SOLID performance gain numbers though.

chris
