anyone had this problem?

I tried financing an 01 lightning today... when it came to the finance person, she said she couldnt do it because i was under 21 and trying to get a high power car?? She said she even couldnt get me into a 6cyl mustang!! Anyone dealt with this crap? Only reason im at this dealership is im 18 with no credit and a cosigner, leaving for the air force and can afford the payments but.... wow.

Being young with no credit established can be tough. The best thing to do is try and get your parents to co-sign for you, otherwise try and open up some small credit accounts at various stores to help build up some credit history. It's the past history of people your age that make it tough for the good ones to get credit. Good luck and hopefully everything works out for you.

i bought my 01 when i was 18, my good hearted mother cosigned for me, i pay over every month and now i have the best credit in the world. people are even offering my platinum cards left and right. just whatever you do dont screw up your credit, credit is a wonderful thing...if it is good. youre best bet is to find someone who can cosign, because in 6 months their name is off of it anyways. car payments are one of the best way to earn credit, next to a house payment

Go to a bank or a credit union. You're not obligated to finance it through the dealer. All a dealer is, is a liason between the buyer and the bank.

Call up Ford Groves. Ask for Moe in the Cape Gireaudeau (sp?). Tell him a *kid* named Charles who bought a true blue 02 from him last July sent ya. this is the same guy i bought my 02 true blue from. Then when you get your Lightning, go back to that b*tch that wouldn't finance you a "high powered vehicle" and do a nice long smokey burnout in front of her office.
