'03 DSG L' on the ground...

Just confirmed delivery of my '03 'L. They had just unloaded the truck before I called to check on the projected date of arrival. I'm as giddy as a school-girl! Will pick it up on Friday... WAHOO!!!

The only downside is that I'm trading my '00 H-D F150. Sure would like to keep both but unfortunately that's not an option. I will sorely miss that truck!

Can anyone give me any production figures based on prior year models? Just wondering about the rarity of the L's. I've seen fewer Lightnings on the road than H-D editions. I'm almost certain there's not another L' in the county! Not much demand for two wheel drive hot rod pick-ups in this neck of the woods.

A friend of mine in Detroit has a black first generataion with extrude ported Edelbrock heads/intake, custom ground cam, supercharger, severe duty rods, steel crank, forged pistons... The list goes on. The build was blueprinted. Truck dynoed at 485 horse/525 lb. ft. tq. He usually brings it home a couple times a year. This truck rocks! Has been experiencing tranny issues lately due to the monstrous torque being imparted on it. He's in the process of rectifying the situation.

Only mods planned are drop shackles and maybe a billet grill set. I received a gift certificate for Pep Boys from my Wife for Christmas so I'll go blow that on the shackles since it's only 10 miles from the dealer. Other than that she'll remain stock. These blown engines are designed quite well to provide super performance while remaining reliable. I've read all the horror stories here and don't feel the need to tempt fate.

BTW, didyou receive my email regarding my H-D F150 goodies?

Congratts on the new truck

I said the same thing as you when I got my Lightning. This vehical I was going to leave stock, then I said one or two little mods. Well 2 years later it has every mod known to man on it, and I still have more plans, LOL.

Yea Don,

I said the same thing when I first got my '99 FXDX. After four grand in engine mods It's now how I feel the factory should have built it to begin with.

The L' on the other hand will surely be enough for me. I left my '00 H-D F150 stock for two years and was pleased with everything besides the somewhat sluggish performance. In all actuallity I always felt the chrome dubs were a bit too much on the flashy side. I kinda like the understated theme of the L's.
