04/05 Lightning
04/05 Lightning
On a lighter note, have any of you guys seen pictures of the Lightning that just debuted at the (detroit? I think) auto show. Looked hideous. The current body is going to be hard to out do, and imho is unbelievably beautiful and smooth in comparison with the new lightning shown. It did have the GT motor in it with functional dual square hood scoops. Unbelievably chunky and boxy, first thing that came to mind is the Dodge 500. It was shown with a 6 speed manual, but is supposedly all wheel drive...so long muscle cars. So all I can say is, unless ford comes up with a much better design, the lightning's glory days are now. Especially in the new harley grey color, which looks great.

I'm in total agreement on the looks for the new Lightning. I do not own a lightning, but have always wanted one and had the opportunity to buy one, but it just wasnt' feasible for me to get one with a growing family.
So in theory, the one they unveiled this weekend, is still considered "Concept". Doesn't mean it will look like this exactly. I think if Ford plays it right and give it until 2005 to start producing this, they will have plenty of time to investigate reviews and professional opinions. Who knows, they may listen and possibly consider maybe bringing some of the sleekness back to it and take some of the "boxy" look off of it.
But if they don't, let's just hope they improve on it in future generation Lightnings and keep the competition under it's foot where it remains today.
But as for me, I'll stick with what I got, and when this 2005 'Stang (starts production Spring/Summer 2004) comes out, that's the one I'm starting to save my pennies for!!!
