Has anybody bought these from a ford dealer? I searched a found a part # on here, but was told that this is an engineering part # and was probably the one on the back of the cap. They couldn't cross reference and searched but only found the silver caps.

I also tried KarKraft, but they no longer carry them. How do I order from Tirerack if I can't get them from a ford dealer? Do I have to call them?

Thanks for the help,
Brad

No you can not powdercoat the center caps, they are plastic and would melt in the baking process. But, you can get them painted to match at a dealer or good paint shop, thats what I did.

I bought this set of wheels and they arrived today but I have not changed the center caps out and mounted them because it is just too cold to turn a wrench tonight! I will be putting them on in the morining and putting the replacement centers on them too. I cant stand the bolts on those things! But the rims are great!

Those are the centers I am gonna use there in the corner of the picture.

when i had a set of wheels powdercoated in black, I took the silver caps and removed the "SVT" centers and had the center caps painted black, then I used a ton of epoxy to re-install the SVT caps. They are held in EXTREMELY well, I thrashed one trying at first.

With a lot of patience and steady hand with my dremel I was able to get them done. It's been almost a year, but I recall when the center cap is off there is 5 small holes that you can see the back off the "SVT" piece I basically connected the dots, lol and cut almost all the way through, what very little plastic that was left, I used my pocket torch to heat it up and pressed it but hand. Like I said it's a PITA, but it worked {shrug}

Once done, I made sure I marked the caps & centers so I got them all back to the correct one and used epoxy to hold them back in place. As far as I know, new owner of those wheels hasn't had anything happen with them.

I think the black would be even cooler on a white L

I know that Vaporlock was working on making these, and dealers should be selling them soon i would think.

The extra set I passed to Vin where from Tirerack. The part numbers I posted up are valid if you want to order them from Tirerack. I have no idea what tirerack charges for them. I do know they ship them seperately, hence I had one set of chrome wheels, yet two sets of caps.

Thanks,
There's a guy on this board (Username - Vaporlock) that has been making some really cool overlays for all of the factory badging. Run a search on his username and you can both read about and see some of his work. He also makes a "SVT" wheel center overlay. I've got a set of chrome replicas on my truck too and I'm going to get a set of these overlays. His website is as follows:

Check it out.
