Portable Generators
Portable Generators
Well, did a search and didn't come up with anything. Running both sides of the race Saturday succeeded in killing my battery. I had to use my jump box several times. With the advent of Intercooler fans coming soon it looks like a portable generator is part of my future. I'm looking and found the Coleman unit shown below. Looks pretty neat and elimanates the need to also haul a battery charger to the track.
Let me know if you have any suggestions or if you have this model and how it works.

This unit while not practical for much else except a TV maybe offers 12 volt built in which eliminates the need to also haul a battery charger to the track. Looks very promising to me.

sounds like a good deal. However what i've done is use a deep cycle battery that you can hook up to the car with jumper cables in the pits during cool down. they will last the duration at the track and you can charge it up when you get home. don't have to worry about mixing or running out of gas. unless you have a really huge electrical load..

Noel,
I have this one.
It is nice.
Here are the pros and cons.
Pro- It will help keep the battery voltage up and does work pretty well.
Not that heavy either.starts right up and runs smooth. Not quiet but not loud.
Con- It is not heavy duty enough to run the Electric fan.Your battery will still die.
If used properly though(turn your e-fan on and off periodically) you can then run your heat exchanger fans and intercooler pump constantly with no problem.
What I do is after I turn my E-fan off for the last time I let it charge the battery for about 10 minutes more to get a full charge.
Overall it has helped my cool down termendously, just do not expect it to be as powerful as a $2,000 honda generator.
if you use it within its limits it will do the job.
Hope this helps
VINNIE
