Gap on Densos

I'm going to have a set of Denso IT22's installed today. Can anyone tell me the optimal gap?

Thanks in advance!

Dave

We need a little more info than that. How much boost over stock are you running and are you running long tubes? Also if you run nitrous how much.

I'm running 4 lb lower and 2 lb upper, ported intake, electric fan, cobra water pump JDM air filter kit. No nitrous.

Tommy,
why 035 ?
Not that I disagree, I don't disagree, it's just everytime someone asks this question INCLDING ME, we recieve answers in a range from .030 - .045. A year ago everyone would answer .038-.040, but lately I see many reccomending smaller gaps like .035 and even smaller. I have the same basic set up he has and still run a tight .038 to a loose .040 and it seems to work great for me. I have 7k on 02 L and I'm on my 3rd set of plugs (stock,TR-6's,Denso IT-22's) However I'm always open for sugestions on bettering my tune. I have the 4lb lower, plus a 2-3lb upper, 4" ram air and custom box, a couple of nice Delta Diablo programs, and the usual boost by-pass, etc...

This upcoming season I have more Mod's like 28" Hoosiers, Truck Trak Bars, a Plasma Unit, an Acuu-Fab SB TB, maybe an adjustable fuel regulator and ported manifold.

What advantage is there to run a smaller gap, if you don't mind me asking.
Thanks in advance
Rob

Plug gap....

Yeah, what Rob02 said. I have my denso's gapped at .041, and the truck runs perfectly...No miss at all through the entire rpm range, and no problem starting or idling. Just curious to the benefit of the smaller gap????

Up the boost, you need to close in the gap. JJSVT runs a 2# lower and 1.5 upper and runs .038. I am running 8# lower and 2# upper with IT24s with a gap of .032. If you want to run a larger gap, go ahead but I have tried many and this is what I would suggest.

Thumbs up

Great answer Tommy
Thanks, I'm not that far off right now because I took the upper pulley off for the snowy cold NY winters. Right now I'm running the 4lb lower only @ .038-.040. I have a Plasma Booster, and Accu-Fab on the way to me right now along with some other stuff. As soon as the weather breaks and the Upper goes back on, I already have an extra set of Denso IT-22's sitting here waiting to go in for the first run of the season so I'll gap them smaller. Will the Plasma Booster play any part in the gap ???
