Sparkplug guys... What do you make of this???
It's been so long since I pulled my OEMs out that I'm not now sure but aren't there supposed to be platinum 'pads' on the underside of the ground electrodes? Johnie, yours are burned off of the ground electrodes I see.........

The NGK looks fine, but I agree with ICULOKN. Its sounds like you are on a very thin line with the program. Be careful in these cooler months with the more dense air. Listen to the engine good and sometimes its hard to hear the detonation because it is so faint. Maybe its a little warmer now than it was the days you heard it pinging. I think you will be fine on the warmer days. Perhaps your problems were because you still had the Platinum plugs in, they hold heat really bad compared to the NGK and Denso. As always let your tuner know what is going on.
You oviously started to melt #5. With only a 2lb pulley the problem isn't too much pulley which means it's either too much timing, it's too lean, or your fuel filter is clogged.
As for your new TR-6's although they look good, they don't look good. "If" you captured the color correct, I'd say the tip is still not cool enough. You mentioned seeing something although the piture doesn't show it. 2 weeks before my TR-6's melted I checked a couple and thought they looked good too. But when I look back at them now, I can see they're running too hot. At closer inspection you'll notice little spots all over the tips. The heat was already starting to attack them, I should have realized that and changed them right then and there.
Here are my stock plugs running 6 lbs of extra Pulley boost.
4lb lower plus a 2-3lb upper, YOUR NEW TR-6'S ARE BURNING HOTTER THAN THIS

Now here's a picture of my TR-6's 2 weeks before the melt down

Again it seems the factory plugs run cooler ??? makes you wonder how bad the original plugs are for pulleys, they sure seem to run cooler than TR-6's.
You saw the picture of what happen when they melted. Bottom line, it sounds like your chip needs to be re-burned "or" if you want to keep it as is, I'd say you need Denso IT-22's to take some of that heat out of the cylinders. Check those new plugs again after you WOT. Give it a nice blast, use your boost, take it home and pull a plug from each side, KEEP AN EYE ON THEM, IT ONLY TOOK ME a 12 SEC RUN DOWN THE TRACK

Do not use plugs to correct a lean chip. Pull the chip and get it reburned. Colder plugs are just a bandaid to another problem. The TR-6 plug is right about the same heat range as stock, just not platinum. With a 2lb lower chip and filter the TR6 should be great. You either have too much timing or lean A/F. Re-burn asap.
In looking at the plugs, I would say it is defiantely your tune....those little silver specs are sure signs of detonation and are actually little specs of aluminum from the pistons. I have seen this many times before and I have experienced it first hand in my SC'd 93 GT. Be careful and get it checked out ASAP.
