Help Questions On Replacing Cats??

I am thinking of replacing my factory cats with high flow one's and have a few questions before I do. I am currently running the factory manifolds with the factory cats and a silver bullet cat-back. I want to replace the dual factory converters with a set of high-flow converters. My question is will I run into any check engine light problems if I do this since I will be eliminating one set of converters?

As long as you put all 4 O2's back in you should be fine. I have a similar setup and I dont get any lights at all.

never caused me any problems when i was driving around for a week when i had mine put on, then i got my o2 simulators. if you have a chip you can get your tuner to make a reburn that will get rid of that problem

I have stock manifolds, Bassani high flow cats (just 2), and Bassani cat back. No codes. The factory units are more of a resonator and cat setup. It is a lot louder with high flows.

Thanks for all the info. I was hoping that by using the high-flow cats that I would get a little more sound out of my exhaust. The Silver-Bullet cat-back sounds great but I would like to have a little more volume at idle.

Thanks for the info Rich. I was thinking about doing this change for the sound difference even if there was no HP increase. But now after reading the recent HALO posts about the HP gain from switiching to the high-flow cats, I am for sure going to change them out!

His silver bullets cat back system has a X pipe already in it. and the bassani cat pipes do make it louded, did I say louder? LOUD is a good work.

Simple, just order the Bassani Cat Pipes from LFP and swap them out with the factory cat pipes. It's a no brainer and will decrease back pressure to about 5psi which will increase low in torque and HP for a quicker truck

Wouldn't it be a lot cheaper to purcahse a set of high-flow magnaflow converters ($65.00 each) and 2 manderal bent 90 degree pipes in order to make the new converters match up to the factory manifolds and just have a local exhaust shop do the install? It probably would cost you less than $200 to do it this way. This seems to be more cost effective way of changing out the cats versus ordering the Bassani cats pipe which from LFP is over $500 with shipping. Plus from tha HALO tests the Magnaflow converters out flowed the Bassani converters by 2psi.

Lightning838- I will post later on tonight the phone number for the place that quoted me the price of $65.00 each for the Magnaflow high flow converters. The $65.00 was for the stainless unpolished high flows and the stainless polished high flows were $99.00.
