Thoughts On JLP Traction Bars?
I am looking at purchasing some sort of traction bars for my L and was looking at the JLP traction bars. I was curious if anyone here is currently running the JLP traction bars and if so what's you thoughts on them?
I have the JDM bars, but the JLP bars are allmost the same.
I think this type of traction bar is the best for the drag strip.
What they will do is keep the rear axle from twisting and prevent the U bolts on the drive shaft from binding. A side benifit is that they help transfer weight to the rear, which will help the tires to hook.

Thanks for the reply Don. Yeah I was looking at the JDM bars as well. I was leaning towards the JLP bars because they are available in a silver powder coat finish. Are Jim's still only available in black?
Hank,
JL's bars are a quality item (as are JDM's)
Part of their design is to allow extra clearance for aftermarket exhausts.
I don't have any slips since installing them but the power transfer is AWESOME and they seemed to help a little on Road Course adventures also.

I have the JDM bars. Although I don't really like the red bars and gold irridite plating on the brackets, I picked up a minimum of a tenth in the 60' time the first time out. It was done at Atco instead of E-town. My actual 60' time gain was 2 tenths that day. Everybody else gained 1 tenth so I attribut the extra tenth to the bars. IMO functionality takes it over how they look. You can always paint them or something. I am not saying that everybody else's bars don't work, I just haven't tried them.
I didn't want the slapper type bars because from past experience with Mustangs, they work great but I couldn't take them banging around on every bump. If you preload them then the ride is bouncy.

I have the JLP bars and I don't leave my driveshaft on the ground anymore! That is worth it all to me.
My 60FT is more consistent and a little better. I have never been a fan of E-town traction though. I usually cut 1.7X on Nittos all day with the occasional 1.80. It all depends on track prep. Johnny is also a great guy to deal with which makes his bars well worth it to me! No one else has given me their cellular phone number for "when they are away from the shop." -Mat-
