Nice post bobcmt.

What model # cats were you testing from Magnaflow and Bassani?

I sometimes get confused as there seem to be many model numbers (duplicate???) for what look like the same 2 1/2 in--2 1/2 out Cat.

Thanks,

Douglas

RESULT: 12-15 hp increase in peak hp at ~ 5000 rpm. While that does not sound like much, at 3800 (lowest measured rpm) torque was up 50-60 lb-ft and hp 40-50! This level of gain slowly tapered to the 12 -15 at 5000 rpm and stayed at that level or greater until 5700+. A lot of new area under the curve and very noticible at seat-of-pants. The same level of gain was seen with two different chip programs and and one program was run twice in both BEFORE and AFTER configurations to verify consistency of the numbers. Gains were likely higher at still lower rpm and more so had I started with a full set of stock cats.

Bob,

Thanks for calling me and sharing the information with me. You and the HALO guys are doing the Lightning community proud with your testing. I know your truck has ran a best of 12.0 with the JDM chip and now with the JDM Long Tube Headers there's no doubt you should be an 11.80 truck. I know your goal was to get into the 11's and becuase of all your research and testing now that you have the right combination you should definitely meet your goal. Good luck. You should send your chip back in for a little more fuel after seeing your dyno graphs.

Jim@JDM

PS- I went over to the HALO board and I see the top 3 fastest trucks all are JDM enhanced. Same goes for the TALON club and the Austin club.

I see you need to get your info straight... Jerrod, Andre, John busing all ARE faster in the club... the 2 trucks you THINK are the fastest are without nitrous... however that does not qualify as clubs fastest....

Yeah, if my truck went 10.48 in TX, and I wasn't driving it, I'd sure like to know!!

I am an honorary member, but I really don't think I belong on that list.

After looking at those dyno graphs again I got to thinking and I wonder why in 1999 and early 2000 a lot of L owners installed the full Bassani exhaust and netted little if any hp increase and virtually no ET improvement. Now after seeing the Halo club tests we are seeing 40+ hp at the rear wheels by the addittion of the full headers and high flow cats. I wonder if bobcmt's truck was just a freak?

No he hasn't arrived yet, besides he's flying in and not in his truck. Sal is an honoray member as a sponsoring tuner. The truth I was talking about is my run was in the dead of the heat here in Texas and I didn't go make a new winter pass for a personal best. I explained to some already, I see no reason for me as a founder to try and "up one" on all the members of HALO. Besides I like the battle and fun they are all having competing in this cold air, dry humidity, and higher than normal BP. My 7.46 1/8 mile speaks for itself, and I believe the top 3 would change if I did do a winter pass. They will all be back to reality this summer, so let everyone enjoy is while it last down here.
I am getting ready for the 2003 CCB which is on a 1/8 mile track with little or no traction most of the time. Sorry for the long explanation but "The Truth Will Set You Free"

WINNINGEST TRUCK IN HALO!

Noel

Sorry guys couldn't resist; I am not in the fastest as consistantcy rather than speed is my goal and I do not run the 1/4 mile as my truck is set up for the 1/8. I did run a 7.92 last night but that's only about a 12.43 in the 1/4. My truck is fixing to get slower as I will be removing my 2400 stall and replacing it with a stock stall. Stalls SUCK for bracket racing. This will cost me about .17 but by lowering my launch rpm from 2500 to 1500 my 60's will become much more consistant.
