Wink Dropping the L

Wanting to drop the L more than just the 2'' drop shackles. Anyone know who makes the best kit for the rear that isn't too expensive but good quality? Looking to drop 1 1/2 to 2 more inches than the 2'' shackles.

if you drop the L that much in the rear, you should probably drop the front end too...
Im pretty sure belltech makes pretty good drop kits

Western Chassis, That is the route I took. I did lowering A-arms with 1" lowering springs in the front, and shackels and hangers in the back. It was a bitch to install but when it was all said and done I am so happy I did it. Ended up being a 3-4 drop I was at 3-5 but I raised the back an inch for better ride quality. Believe me that inch makes a BIG difference.

P.s. I you do go this route don't forget to put in the camber shims I did and I have to pull it all apart to put them in. (they come with the kit.)

I have Eibach coils up front which gave it a 1.5-2" drop, and have 2" rear shackels and removed one rear leaf spring and it came out perfect. I can take pictures for you tomorrow if you would like. Ride quality stayed the same. The only downside to removing a leaf spring is that your not able to tow very heavy things.

I've been thinking about taking out a leaf on my truck. How hard was it to remove the leaf? How long did it take? I bet it would help launching too.

Well, I had Razors Edge Motorsports install my Eibachs and take out one rear leaf spring from each side. I watched Tim take out the rear leafs, it looked pretty easy and straight forward. And it took him about 15 minutes each side. But, he has done these before so I'm sure it would take you or me longer. And I haven't really tried to launch it or been to the track since they were removed, so I can't comment on that.

I went with the Belltech too (3/4). For some reason, it wasn't until after I already bought it that I started hearing about it bottoming out. If you use the top hole it will really be bad. I moved it down one, and though it's better, it still hits occassionally. If doing it again, I'd try something else. Damn shaving the stops.

I dont know if you will be happy with just a 2" shackle in the rear...it doesnt give you a true 2"...more like 1 1/4" to 1 1/2". But for some that is enough....in the end its up to personal preference!

Pics of my L before and after Belltech 3" front/ Western Chassis 3" to 5" adjustable rear. Front is now 2" lower than stock, rear is 3 1/2".

L#8383,

Do you have a picture of your L. Looking to do the same. I am sure you had to do an alignment, did you need to use shims or anything else. Any adverse effects on your tires as a result. If you have a pic please send to hwynne@bellsouth.net

Thanks
