Question Dirrrty brake fluid...

Hey, my brake fluid is really dirty, is this normal or do I have a leak or something? If its normal, is it easy to change? I want it to be nice & clear like when it was new, its only got 6800K on it now. Should it be dirty already? And if so, can I keep it clean or do I have to change it constantly? Is it a P. I. T. A. to change?

Also, I want to change to sythetic Mobile-1 oil, what kind (weight) do you guys use and what filter do you use?
Thanx gents

It is probably not "dirty" it is most likely burnt up a bit. When you heat up the brakes it will change the color of the fluid.

But then again with 6,800,000mi on the truck I can see why it might be dirty

Use the same Motorcraft filter (FL-820S) and I used Mobile 1 Trisynthetic 5W-30, since 500mi without a peep out of the motor.

I used to turn Ford HD fluid black in a few grand miles all the time, but now I'm running Neo SuperDOT 610 and its still clear as a good scotch.

I switched to Super-Blue and like it so far. Nice firm pedal, no more sponge.

Where do I get this stuff? I looked everywhere yesterday for the ATE stuff....came up empty....

Oh, whats the difference between Mobil1 trisynthetic & Mobil1 supersyn full synthetic? I can only find the 5w30 super syn full. Is there even a difference, or are they the same freakin' thing?

Mobil1

Supersyn is their latest and greatest, Trisyn was the prior product and is no longer made. If you see it on the shelf, it is old stock.

Thanx JBR, I guess that explains why every tech within 30 miles of my house had no idea what the hell I was talking about...

Me- "I need TRI-SYN!...not super syn!"
Tech- "Sir, Supersyn IS mobil1's full synthetic...thats is what you are looking for..."
ME- "Look mook, their website says they make a TRI-SYN, & I want it...ya got it er not. If not, where can I get it?"
Tech- "We dont sir, but you cant get it anywhere, because if you want Mobil1 FULL-SYN, you will have to get the supersyn sir...that IS their full synthetic brand.."
ME- "Dude, I'm not sure if I'm speakin' the wrong damn language to you er what, but yer makin' me constipated here. They got supersyn, & Tri-syn...I saw it with my own freakin' eyes...do I gotta fly in exxon's C.E.O. to hand you yer *** here or what!"
TECH- "Sir, I'm not trying to say your "wrong" or anything, I'm just telling you that if your looking for the MOBIL1 brand full syn oil, your lookin' for supersyn...do you see what I'm telling you here?"
ME- "Thats it butterball! Get yer chunky dungeons & dragons playin, lord of the rings watchin' azz out from behind that counter, 'cause were goin' the rounds!!!!"

LOL
Oops....my bad...
