Wtf?

Long story short...... I was showing off and doing a rolling burnout as I left work yesterday. When I got to the 2-3 shift, I lost power like crazy. It felt like I was dragging a house. I could hear the supercharger; but it sounded like is was muted. I stopped at the next light and, when I pulled away, everything was fine. Is this the effect of the boost bypass in action? Is there another explanation. It also felt like I wasn't running on all 8 cylinders. WTF?

Thats the full effect!! Unplug it or buy about $5.00 worth of parts to bypass it....

Thanks Richard. Or should I say Quick-Draw? That's what I thought; but, since I've never actually experienced it, I wasn't sure.

Nope; but, if I go to the track I'll just unplug while I'm there. I don't normally need it for street driving. I've been considering the boost bypass mod for over a year now and can't see a reason for me to do it. I like that it may save me from breaking something when I'm acting the fool.

Great Minds DO think alike
I just un-plug mine when the need arises!

Don't know if the Boost By-Pass can save your Motor, as you put it. But it will dump boost if you hit the Limiter "or" at the Shift Point where the Torque Reduction does it's thing, so I guess yes that will protect you right then and there, "WHEN YOU NEED YOUR POWER THE MOST". Me I'm a gambling man, I had my rev Limiter moved all the way up to 5800 RPM and had the Torque reduction turned off with all 6 Chip Programs I've been running throught the 7000 Miles + I put on it so far. I love it the way it is and would never ever go back. No hitting the limiter during burnouts, no farts between shifts, no short shifts because it over reved, no fuel shut off at 5400 RPM. I know we make our Peak HP at low RPM, but any tuner will tell you that you need to be shifting @5500-5700 RPM to stay in the power. Street or Track, your not gonna do that with the factory settings. Just my opinion though, some day Gator will probabaly rub it in my face when I blow it up

Do you get a check engine light when you unplug the boost dump...???? and will it keep the truck from shifting to 2nd early(low speed) when your spinning in first...??

Actually, we make max torque down low. After having numerous different programs on my chips. I elected to lower the shift points to 5250 rpms. My truck now cuts the tires loose more easily at the shift points and pulls harder after the shift. Redlining the truck is not only not necessary, it's not better. Just my .02...... as long as were passing out change.

Same thing I did. After seeing my dyno charts I thought there was no reason to strain the motor at high rpms. We loose power like mad after 5000rpms. I had mine set to 5250 as well.

I would never "rub" anybody when they're down
I had the "fart" removed also, but when I went to a pulley I had my shift points lowered to 5200. I figured with the added torque, no need to rev my stock rods
As far as a gambling, I just spent $10 on the Big Game
Hope your hoildays are great and good health to your family in the new year, Rob.
See ya at hOOters

i have noticed at times in my 2002 l will spin the tires hard in first gear while not giving it that much pedal, then it goes too second gear where it is now in a mojor dead spot and the fun is ruiend.
but if you try too shift it manualy it will let you know it does not like that. i figure i need to just drive it more and get used to it but all this snow is keeping my truck hidden.

Those 2nd gear short shifts are because it's hitting the limiter, and cutting the fuel, hence shifting the truck. I hated that when I first got my truck, thats why I moved it. I also agree with all of you on the lower shift points and actually spent quite some timing making (3) tuners explain to me why it needs to be at 5500 when all the Dyno results I've looked at (other peoples L) show a major drop of HP and torque up there. They outright can loose 35 hp by 5500 compared to mid 3's. But since they all tune their chips around that shift point (and higher) (I had one shifting at 57K), I figured thats the place to be ??? Once I did actually have it put back down to 5250 or 5300 and I hated it, moved it right back up a week later to 5500 and still rather have 5700.

I guess we all bet differantly, thats why it's called a Game
We're all right, yet we're all wrong, one thing's for sure.
WE ALL OWN THE FASTEST FOTHER MUCKING TRUCK ON PLANET EARTH, and that makes us all Brothers and Sisters with one common bond ---> The need for speed and the need to help a L brother out.
