Question Tips

About a week ago I bought a Silver 01 L with around 10,000 miles on it and I'm loving every min. of it when I can drive it. DAMN SNOW!! Well any way the guy that had the truck before me painted the tips black. Now they don't look that bad but there starting to pit and rust and I would rather have them shiny. So how hard would it be to try to scrub the black paint off to get them to shine? Or should I just take them off and get them chromed? Help please!!

Thanks

Mothers metal polish seems to work good on the stock tips.

The Cerama bryte <sp?> seems to be a bit rough on the
finish on the stockers ... I followed the above advice after
using the Cerama bryte, and changed to Mother's

Are you sure the truck has the stock tips? The stock tips really shouldn't "rust" as they are factory ceramic coated (or something similar). It could be possible that the previous owner installed aftermarket tips or exhaust, and then painted them because they were rusting (maybe a MAC catback). If the tips are rusting now through the paint, stripping the paint off so you have the bare metal is probably not going to be a good idea. If the tips come off, and you want to keep those same tips, you might want to consider powdercoating them in a nice shiny silver finish.
