New Benz to watch out for.
New Benz to watch out for.
Went for a ride in my buddies 2003 S600 Mercedes. Twin-Turbo V-12 500hp/590tq stock from the factory. It moves that big old 4 door sedan from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. It feels like it pulls as hard as my truck. Very fast car. Has to be close to a 12-second super sized luxury sedan. Oh so nice. $150,000.
As impressicve as that is, my feelings wouldn't be hurt if a $150,000 car kicked my ***. Ofcoarse, I may never even see one of those roaming around, and to get the guy to race? Doubt it! Still, very cool...If I was stinking rich, I would own one...for now I am just stinking, so I'll keep my twelve second pick-up!!!

All non-AMG Mercedes are speed goverened to 155mph. This is a non-AMG. Just wait until AMG gets this big bad boy. A re-flash on the PCM will remove the limiter. I would venture to guess that 180mph++ would not be a problem. 14" Brembo rotors and the new Brembo 8-piston 8-pad caliper come standard. The size of this is huge. Longer and wider and heavier than the L.
Benz...
I would guess that the top speed is electronically limited to somewhere around 150....I have a customer with an 03 S600, and he said he had it to 140...Beautiful car...When he bought it, that is what the salesman told him, but half of the car salesman out there don't know their a$$ from their elbow...
Well, since my GT40 order seems to have gone down the tubes with virtually no production, I'm now on the list for the new AMG E55, same exact motor as that S55 twin turbo 5.5 Liter (493HP and 516 LB-FT), but less weight (3815LB versus 4300LB). It theoretically should 1/4 mile in the 11's -- stock.
It is supposed to come in at about $80K fully loaded, which when I add all my PSP parts and Labor to our base Lightning, is maybe 45% more $$$ than our modded Lightning but it holds 66% more passengers.
So Sal, when I throw a 250 shot NX system on the MB, let's throw it down.
(But I'm NOT putting roll cage in the Mercedes and I doubt I can find an SFI approved balancer)
By the way Mercedes claims 4.6 Sec 0-60 for that S55.
Why can't Cadillac or Lincoln make something this good???
