SuperCooler Technology

Hi Guys,
I'm sure by now you are all aware of the Supercooling ability on the 2004 Concept Lightning to provide a cold charge from the AC unit. In order to use the feature, does anyone know if you would have to keep the AC running in order to cool the reserve tank? Would you have to run the AC to "regenerate" the tank of 30 degree coolant.

Let me know what you guys think...

Thanks.
- Jay

No, I think it will cool itself.

Of course, the engine management system is going to kick on the compressor whenever it needs to cool the tank.

This nothing really new.
A lot of German cars have used the A/C to cool the fuel before it went into the fuel rail.

If a 150 is good, then a 200 would be better, right?

I wonder how Ford ever thought of this new idea?

First, cooling the fuel would be an entirely different concept than cooling the intercooler fluid and thus, the intake charge.

Second, are you sure about this? Cooling the fuel would probably lead to poor atomization once it is injected into the manifold, and may lead to puddling. Or am I missing something?

Actually about 10 years ago Ford had a concept Mustang (I think it was called a Mach III) that used a similar cooling system.

Steve,
A happy New Year to you and Sharon from me and Julie. Love the new look on the L, couldnt be happier with it.
We're all ready for the GEN III, just passing the time with the stang. The NX kit is just waiting for it, so the added power will be added the day of purchase ....along with a few other goodies
