Any KR owners need a superchip?

I am getting rid of my superchip and thought I would give first dibs to the KR people. It is from a 2001 King Ranch 5.4L, engine code SVB2. If I don't get any interest I will post in the classifieds.

Would the chip need to be reburned, or it doesn't matter as long as the engine is 5.4?

If your engine code is the same as mine, which I have to check to make sure of the code, then it will work without reburning. If your code is different however, which is likely is if it is not exactly the same truck, it would have to be reburned. I will edit my post when I check the engine code later this evening.

Hey dufunnel,

How much are you asking for that Super Chip? What's the reason you're getting rid of it anyway? Is it configured for 93 octane fuel or some other? Does a 4x4 require a different chip than a 4x2? I'm interested but the price is important too.

$100. I just got one of the micro tuners, so I don't need this anymore. It like all other chips requires high octane gas, and the 4x4 may have a different engine code but otherwise has the same chip.

So, how about that engine code and, also, where can I find mind to confirm a match?

Sorry, I forgot to look at the code before I left town yesterday. I will be back in town on Monday evening and I will check then. In the meantime, you can check your code on the hinge side of the front passenger door. There is a sticker on the inside of the door down toward the bottom of the door. The 4 character code is printed on it. From memory, my code is SVB2. I left in kind of a rush on Thanksgiving and I am now up in Michigan (skagel country) with my in-laws for Thxgiving weekend.

dufunnel,

My computer code is SVB2 and the part number is 1L3F-ASC. If your chip will work in my truck, I'm interested. What kind of MPG were you getting with the chip running 93 octane? Did you notice much of a change when you installed the chip and what were the changes if any?

Later,

~DM~

Ok, I have verified that it is indeed code SVB2. My mileage wasn't noticeably different with the chip in, but the effects were very noticeable. Looks like Daveman has first dibs looking at the posts. You still interested?

Mike's right about all the benefits of the chip. I frequently beat the Accord's off the line and in the long run, plus the shift points were better and quicker. The only down side was using premium gas. You will have to switch to premium or you will start pinging.
