Question Has anyone installed an Air Intake Kit?

I already have the Superchip and think its time to add a little "More Power" (grunts like Tim Allen).

Thinking about getting an air intake kit like the Airforce One Performance Intake. First, how hard and long do these take to install yourself? Second, do they require any special tools? Third, those that have installed them, can you tell/feel the difference of their claimed 17.9hp gain?

They are very quick installs. About 15-30 minutes average, depending on your knowledge of the tools used. I have a K&N FIPK, and it took me 15 minutes to install. As for the noticeable increase in power, I couldn't say, because I also added my exhaust at the same time. I did notice an increase in airflow, as it is much louder now when it sucks the air in.

now i would imagine that this mod would increase flow but being that it does away with the original airbox design which acts somewhat like the old oil bath air filters in their flow design i would think it would be much less efficient at filtering out junk which is just fine if you plan on racing your truck around and then getting a new one but less than ideal for a long engine life.

Thumbs up Go for it!

I put a K&N system on mine and it felt faster and gave it it nice louder growl. I also have Flowmaster and Superchip Flip Chip. As for the install, I'm no mechanic but I know enough to be dangerous. My install was 30-40 min, with one cut knukle.

You will notice that the intake just sits there supported just by the hook up at the clamp. Don't sweat I have had my on for 3 months now and have been checking it. There is no sign that it is coming lose or sagging. You will like it. Good luck......Scott

I put the K&N FIPK gen II on my 5.4, in about 30 mins. The kit comes with everything you need, including easy to follow directions. I had exhaust put on the day before and with the two, i noticed a significant increase in power and slight increase in gas miliage. its a must have upgrade.
