Smile Improvements are good...

Guys/Gals,

I know I sometimes come across as kind of Looney with my dry wit or craziness. I really want to improve and I'm starting right now. I've been involved with the King Ranch forum from the very first threads and posts and thus I need to be cleaner and more helpful than I've been.

BTW, I cleaned up a fair number of my posts that I’ve been involved with recently so if you see where some of my original comments are deleted, you'll understand. The only place you might find some of my less desirable posts are where guys have quoted me and that is hard to rid yourself of...It makes me even more likely to post short and clean as there seems to always be someone who wants to catch you saying something that you shouldn't have and then they sometimes rub your nose in it by quoting you...

Some may beg to differ, but people can change and I know I can and I will as I have before.

Please help me with my new challenge as I really just want to be helpful, laugh and have fun and most of all be actively involved with real issues and important truck improvements and enhancements.

In addition, I'm going to try and coordinate another KR trip for next year and not being sincere enough will surely mean failure again. I think next year is 150 years for the King Ranch and I think its 100 years for Ford but I may be wrong. A trip out to the King Ranch in 2003 should prove to be more memorable and worth while in my opinion.

I apologize to each and every member for not being sincere and earnest when I should've been, possibly because something didn't seem to be a good idea at the time or I had no interest in it for myself.

I want to improve, but I don't want to do it alone unless I'm given no choice.

Lenny,

Thanks but I think my character has come under scrutiny here recently. For example, over in the Super Crew Forum, some return comments have been less than favorable from some newer members and after thinking it over, I realized that a fair number of their comments were correct and I was wrong.

All in all, I guess this site and the overall nature of internet communication is somehow changing me into a person that I don't like myself and that's the problem.

Also, there are several King Ranch members that I think have come to dislike me from comments I've made about their trucks or mods and yet I don't think when I said the things that I said, that I thought there would be negative repercussions.

When you come to know someone very well personally, in real life, then certain comments you may make to them are sometimes disregarded as banter or joking. Exact intent of communication is just not easy to discern with forum discussions, at least not for me.

I think that without eye contact, manorisms, hand gestures, voice tone and inflection that typed communication can be too easily misunderstood as to ones exact intent.

I'm almost certain that I'm not an AH and I don't like being labeled one either, I guess that's it...I feel dirty and I can't seem to wash it off...

Take a bit of advice from someone who has.....

Been There

Done That

Read The Book

Seen The Film

Bought The T Shirt

Screwed The Leading Actress......

The advice is.....

"You're thinking too much !"

Half this world's problems are caused by the thinkers.....ie people who can't do !

Be yourself.....we like you.....and remember.....

"Sod 'em all !"

All in all...

My comments mimick exactly those of Lent.

What in the world are you talking about man? I don't understand. So now we're going to have a new and improved Dave that only talks about trucks and rarely gets involved in the humorus jargon that we all have come to know and enjoy? I don't know man but, in the words of the immortal NUMBER 5 (Short Circuit-the movie) NEEED INPUT!!

Dear F150-Online:

Please post this warning in the first post of the King Ranch forum -
"WARNING: POSTING OVER 1100 POSTS IN THE KING RANCH FORUM MAY BE DANGEROUS TO YOUR MENTAL HEALTH....POST AT YOUR OWN RISK"

I'm going to stop posting TODAY, I don't want to get anywhere close to that number of posts, and guys like Rockpick and Karatekids should think about having a quick checkup at the doctors, just to make sure everything is A ok in the cranium

I usually come to the forum to get a few laughs and find out some quick advise/ideas etc., don't panic Dave....don't change unless YOU need to, so far I've found this is really a great bunch of people.

To pay what we did for the leather in our trucks....maybe we should all look a little closer at ourselves

All is okay in my cranium. Like Dave, I've tailed off posting considerably and have realized that I spend entirely too much time on the boards; not just the KR board but, all of the boards in general.

Again, like Dave, I'm a professional in the scientific world where stress in the job place is the name of the game. I have used this forum to vent and to wind down from work. It's a nice escape if you ask me.

All of the folks that are here are some really fine people seemingly. I enjoy the conversation and the occasional jokes that we all poke back and forth at eachother. The information that I've gained from this forum is nothing short of spectacular. We have some sharp folks contriubiting to the threads with a wealth of different views and opinions. It's healthy to read others opinions. What would this world be without opinions? Pretty darn dull if you ask me...

In closing, I sincerely appreciate everyone's gander. I enjoy mingling with you folks electronically and look forward to many more enjoyable posts. Just because I'm up and over the 1500 mark doesn't mean that I too tied to the computer to pull away from it.

I won't change. The only person I'll change for is me. I, personally, don't see anything wrong with an occasional vent or posting a comment that might help someone out with a problem or an occasional joke. Laughter is what makes this world spin and this web-based forum is here to communicate. Communication is what has been done here since day one.

Again, I'm rambling so I'll cut it off here. Enjoy this forum. Enjoy the web. Enjoy what you do with yourself and your time. Life is too short to sit on the sidelines and wonder 'what if'.

I don't see the need for DaveMan or anyone else to change. I do not post as much as others but I enjoy tuning in for all the latest info, banter, etc.

As I have said before I have picked up many good ideas, suggestions, info from this site and everyone on it. Thanks again to all who post here. Keep up the good work and do not forget about having fun. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff and alot involving life is small stuff.

I'm aware that I'm the resident pain in the ****. It's a title that I hold true to my heart especially considering that it was an elected position on this forum.

I'd like to thank all the little people that brought me to this point... *sniffle*

Guys/Gals,

Sorry for another long post.

Hopefully this is the more logical explanation, the first post was the emotional version.

Thanks for all the advice and feedback, which means a lot. However, I feel that when one jokes around in person, you can almost get away with murder. When you joke around too much with this forum, it's written in ink, indelible ink when someone quotes you. The part I don't like and want to change about myself is how I react to this site and what I’m willing to write and be public domain. I love to laugh and have fun as much as the other person and that I don't want to or probably can't change that aspect of myself.

I do want to clean up my act for people that could see what I write, not my offline personality per se. However, my open joking and banter from forums are starting to run over into my personal and professional life and that too is where I need to straighten up a bit. However, it’s hard when I go wild in a forum but then have to conform elsewhere to a more stringent standard. If certain folks were to read some of the things that have been said or discussed on this site, they'd potentially treat me and see me in a different light, possibly the unemployment line if I crossed too far over the line.

I want to keep my forum experience as fun, informative and helpful as possible, yet at the same time be prepared for the jerk that prints it all out and posts it on a bulletin board in my office; or worse, emails it to the president of my company.

Does that help explain why I want to change my exposure and how internet communication cannot be the same as what we can say in person? I need to create a more even humorous environment that can be used in any situation. Some may not know but I’ve got a three year old son that watches what I do and say and also lots of other eyes and ears elsewhere as well.

I think another place that one can get burned is with email. You can say things in person, that's one thing, but when you put it in writing, then it could become public domain and that has the potential for being a big problem for me and I bet a lot of you as well.

My new motto:
Only write that what can be displayed right next to your picture on a bulletin board at either your church or you office.

Bronco,

I don’t attend regular church even though I was brought up Catholic. However, I do believe in God deeply and have my own personal outlook on religion and the universe. My beliefs aren’t found in any faith that I’m aware of, however I basically follow the same standards of behavior as what you’d expect from a Christian.

Later Gator,

~DM~

I haven't gone crazy...have I?

Skagel, didn't you mention something about some heavy metal you use for head problems...Lithium or was it Plutonium?...ahh hell, one heavy metal is a good as the other I guess...especially if it's for someone else...

Daveman -

I'm just a junior member here with barely double digit posts but I don't have any idea what you're talking about. In the short time I've been here, I haven't seen anything even remotely offensive, at least not to me. And I've been around the block once or twice!

So relax and be yourself. If you need to change, do it for the right reasons and not because of someone's post.

Good Luck!
