Question Where can I find a 2002 KR Supercab?

Hi,

I am a reforming Chevy guy. I have an old 1990 stepside with 220K miles on it. It is about 20,000 past what should have been retirement for the old beast.

Anyway, I'm searching out a new truck, and I really like the King Ranch in estate green. My problem is that I am trying to find a Supercab KR, and it is very difficult! I have been to the dealers and they all tell me to buy a 2003, but the problem is the 2003 KR supercab will be flareside only, and I want a 2002 in the styleside. I found some great pics of a truck just like I want in this gallery and it is making me crazy!!

If anyone knows who I should talk to in the Houston area or even anywhere in Texas please let me know!

email - Oasisy2k1@cs.com

thanks!

I saw one just 10 days ago in NE GA near the GA / NC state line. Can't remember the color but it was the only extended cab KR I've ever seen. 2002 model. Let me know if I can help you with it! I flew to NC once to buy a Lexus I found at a great price. Don't be afraid to grab a plane ticket into Atlanta and buy that truck. The long drive home will give you a great opportunity to get to know your new lady.

Bill Collins Ford here in Louisville, KY has three KR SCs on the lot. Two, from what I remember are green.

Good luck...

Mr Gallagher,

You might get lucky by contacting a few F150 online members that own KR Super Cabs as they probably keep up with them better than anyone.

Below are two F150 online members that both own '02 Estate Green Super Cabs, you should go to their profiles and email them and ask if they can help with knowledge or advice. KingRanchAustin lives in, you guessed it, Austin TX. The other member lives down in Florida. Just click on the button up top of the website that says memebers and then click advanced search and type the username and it will find them for you. Then click on email the member, that's it.

Good luck and we hope you can join in on the fun soon.

Later,
~DM~

Your best bet is to ask your dealer to locate one for you, or search Forddirect.com for yourself for one. They will transfer it for you if they think they can get your business.

When I got my 01' Supercrew I wanted Estate Green as well, the dealership went to work to find one. They found two and called me a day or so later, asking me which I wanted. One in Central texas with the 4.6 or the one 300miles away with the moonroof and 5.4. Needless to say I have a 5.4 . Two days later i was driving away in a KR.

I found my '02 extended cab 5.4 King Ranch in Estate Green through forddirect.com. You can build your truck and then search by dealer inventory. At the time (about 2 months ago) I snagged the only '02 extended cab King Ranch in metro Atlanta area. And as a bonus, mine came with automatic climate control built in (but not reflected in the invoce )

Hey Noel Gallagher...

Thanks for the compliments on my truck Greatly Appreciated. I grabbed the only 4x2 estate green king ranch supercab in south florida. when i bought it 2 months ago, no one else had the truck. there were a few 4x4's, but no 4x2's. as some of the other ranchers said, forddirect.com would probably be your best bet. my salesman checked the whole state of florida for a kr supercab w/ a moonroof, and he said that there were only about 10-12 OF THE TRUCKS, of which, none had moonroofs. If your salesman really wants the sale, he'll check all the dealers within a reasonable area for ya. And I totally agree with you, the styleside is a hell of a lot better truck. If the 2002 KR SC was a flareside, i would have probably gotten a lariat. Well...good luck, and thanks again for liking my pics

Have a great day!

thanks for all the info everyone! I called the salesguy today. I had asked him on MOnday to find a green KRsupercab, and he said he could not locate a single one! He suggested I buy an 03 flareside and have a styleside bed put on and painted, but that sounds very pricey to go along with the new truck too.

I guess I will keep looking!

I'm getting confusimacated !

All this talk of Styleside and Flareside...or getting Lariats instead.

The KR Supercrew is a Flareside....right ?

So is the KR Supercab not a Flareside but a Styleside?

What exactly is a Styleside?

As a furriner it took a while to get to grips with stepsides and fleetsides....just when I thought I had it clear !!!

And this lariat business....someone back in the thread said they would get a Lariat in preference to the KR to get the desired bed.

I thought the KR WAS a Lariat !

At least my original window sticker reads......

2001 4x2 Lariat King Ranch
Lariat 139'' WB Flareside.

The supercrew is a cross between a flareside and a styleside. A true flareside has little steps around the wheel wells, and the bed where it meets the cab is more pooched in. I think it looks horrendous. The supercabs and regular cabs are the only ones that come in styleside and flareside. The Lightning is a flareside. The supercrews just happen to use the flareside taillights, but the bed looks more like a styleside.

Are you more confused now?
