New Mod Idea ???

I recently bought an aluminum guage bezel off ebay..It basically has holes where any lights or guages are....

I think this would be too flashy for my KR...I am working on making them the color of the leather in the seats and steering wheel....

I thought about the tan interior color but there would be no contrast....

Whatcha think???\

We used to use stuff called "alodine" to oxidize aluminum on aircraft. depending on how long you leave it on it goes from a light gold to a deep brown with copper color in between, it's used as a corrosion preventative as it leaves an oxidized coating on the metal.

These might get you started...

Back in the day when I was doing aircraft corrosion control we would use a flap brush to remove corrosion spots then Alodine the area prior to repainting as a corrosion preventative. If you left the alodine on the bare aluminum too long you would get a dark brown finish vs a gold finish.

I was always curious as to a project (aluminum PC case?) using this method vs. anodizing...
