Which Color should I get?

Getting pretty close to making that KR purchase. Which color do you guys recommend? Leaning toward chestnut, but all look good. Also, would you suggest the sunroof or no?

Thanks

Okay, Mom always said there were no 'DUMB QUESTIONS' but, there's only one choice...

Also, you'll hate yourself if you don't get a sunroof. Definately get it!!

So, have you made the King Ranch decision? Ruled out Lariat all together?

RockPick, should have known you would be the one to reply!!

No, haven't ruled out the Lariat all together. Went this weekend to look. Found a Chestnut KR at a local dealer. Was there for two hours. Told the dealer today I heard about Chevy and 0% so I thought I would just wait. He asks, "If we can discount this vehicle so you would realize the same total outlay over the life of the loan (at 3.9%) would you take it???"

I told him it would be a virtual certainty.

Only thing, they had two on the lot Saturday, one with sunroof, one w/o. The one with sunroof sold TODAY!

So, I am thinking maybe I need to check out the other dealers to see what they have in stock, which may lead me to another color.

Whew, if I keep writing, I'll be looking for a book deal like yours!

Marc

By the way, why do so many people just view a post when it specifically asks for an opinion? You know what they say about opinions. How come nobody posts theirs?

There are about 6 Chestnut King Ranch'ers available up here in Louisville on a SINGLE LOT. I believe the majority of them had the sunroof. You really want sunroof... trust me. It really sports the truck up...

www.billcollinsford.com

I beleive that's the site for the dealership here in Louisville -- It's huge.... pretty darn good service too. *shrugs*

As far as the views/posts. It's just a way of life on the boards.... hate to say it but, you'll have to get used to it. You'll get more responses during the day (seemingly) because people are loafing at work.... (I NEVER EVER EVER DO THAT... hehehe)

Good luck man. Remember this, BUY WHAT YOU WANT! (and get the sunroof).

Ok...I loaf at work AND at home!

I'm with Rockpick, now 2 votes for Chestnut...it changes hues like my mood ring.....that's right, I've got a mood ring, I also call it my wedding ring...think about it. I just painted the trim on my house a dark wine burgundy so my KR would look better in the driveway! (Yes I really did..I had the 500W halogen spotlight out front and finished screwing on the last shutter about an hour ago....I am nuts, please keep the comments to a minimum)

Anyway...I don't have the roof...I never opened them on the other cars I've had...so I didn't see the need...but that's only me...other people live and die by them*

Kiss the Lariet goodbye....the KR is the only way to go...did I mention we have the best forums!

Later!

*see Rockpick's comments above....he sounds like he never closes it

I think that estate green looks best, but I'm not painting my house to match!! "Obession" is the word that applies here. I like 'em all, just liked the green more. I was going to buy the Charcoal Blue, drove 7 hours to the dealership to buy the Charcoal Blue, drove the Charcoal Blue 3 times, and asked them to find me an Estate Green one. Drove out of the dealership at 11:00 pm. and drove home.
Look at 'em all in person is my advice, preferably side by side.

As for the sunroof.......

Let's remind you about that bird that crapped from on high straight onto that wonderful leather.

Total waste of money.......hardley ever open mine.....but then I haven't got one !

In actual fact I have them on other vehicles and I have to agree with KingRanch1....hardly ever use them !!!

(PS If you think that is a rude word I will presume you all know it was one Thomas Crapper who invented the water closet !!!)

Marc,

I can no better tell you what kind of truck to select than I can tell you what's the best kind of underwear. You have to get what you like and that's the important thing, you've got to make the payments, not us.

BTW, I'll play along:
Wear Boxers, Get the Chestnut KR, forget the moonroof 'cause I've got one and never use it, get the Goodyear RTs swapped out with the ATs 'cause they are a lot better tire. See what I mean, this is what I would pick...Oh, don't forget, you must have the trailer towing package, you must...Gotta get 4X4, it's the only way to go...Trash the original radio and get a quality CD player and disc changer, I did...

Okay, you want KR color debates? Check out this link from the past:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ighlight=color

Have you ever had someone recommend a certain kind of meal at a restaurant and they just rant and rave over it and when you get yours you don't like it? The same thing applies here, you can read our recommendations but you still have to make up your mind on your own cause if you don't like something you can't come back and blame one of us, now can you?

Good luck with you selection. There is no such think as an ugly KR and if you get a moon roof and don't use it, that's okay. The guy you sell the truck to may not buy it unless you have one

I'm sure you'll keep us posted, when it comes to over $500/mo truck payments, missery loves company...

Later,
~DM~

I'm baffled.

You have the roof and never use it?!? I guess we're night and day different. I rarely run the AC... RARELY.

Yes, I got shat on while sitting at a stop light. It all came out of the seat and all is well. That doesn't mean that I'm not plotting against all of the pigeons in the western hemisphere though...

Here's a fact... like Lenticular said, he rarely uses his but, then again, he doesn't have one.

If you have one, you'll have the opportunity to use it... no sunroof, you'll never know what you were missing. I ADORE MINE. It's definately worth the little drop in the collection plate. Again, that's my opinion though...

Marc,

I agree with the 1st paragraph of DAVEMANs post, you'll be paying the note,

That being said however, as much as I've grown to respect these guys since I've moved over from that "other" fast truck group I believe they are confused a little (and I can't beleive I beat SKAGEL to this post)...

Charcoal Blue is the only way to go

As for the roof, I'm not really a sunroof kinda' guy but I'm really glad mama made me get it now as it adds something to the truck (other than a hole in the roof)...

Whatever you do, enjoy...

G

I've never been a sunroof person myself, but DAVEMAN made a good point in the resale value of it. The only time I've ever appreciated a sunroof is in a Grand Am with 2 15's in the trunk. It's kinda cool watching the bill of your hat vibrate up and down with the roof open. I digress at that point As far as color, man, that's up to you. My wife was gonna go for the Chestnut, but after getting jerked around we got the Charcoal Blue from another dealer and we love it. Check out our galleries and you can see what some of them look like with exterior mods on em. We have the ARE lid on ours.

I've had lots of cars with and without the sunroof and would not have ordered one if I had ordered my truck. I rarely opened any of them and they were either noisy or ineffective at speed.

The one on this truck however is an exception and I'm glad now that the truck I bought off the lot had it. First, it is huge and actually gives you a noticable open air feeling, unlike most others. Second, because the windshield on a truck isn't raked back severely like a car, the sunroof is above you instead of almost behind you like most cars, which makes it more effective. Drop all four windows and open the roof and the air really flows. Third, I like to leave the sunshade open and the glass closed in the winter to get a little sunlight in during the long Michigan winter....also warms the interior some when parked on a cold but sunny day.

Oh yeah, of course get the Chestnut.

I can't help but be partial to the Estate Green....but if green isn't your color I would go with the Charcoal. I'm not picking on the chestnutt people, I had a burgandy extended cab I traded in on my KR. It's almost the same color I wanted a change. You gotta get the sunroof, I am alwasy using mine, only time I kick the A/C on is when it gets over 90...which lately has been every day.

I am so sorry I am slow to posting, but yesterday was an extremely eventful day and I didn't have time to log on.

that being said, If I had to do it all over again I would have gone for the Chestnut. Not only does it match the brick of my house better it seems to be an altogether better paint quality then the Charcoal....I have had nothing, but problems with the paint on Tomas. don't get me wrong I love Tomas like he was my second child. As for the sunroof....mine doesn't make any noise at all, but I know for a fact the aftermarket ones do. I use mine mainly to helped get the heat out of the truck in the summer time when I first get in it.....other then that I never really use mine either.....messes up my perfect hair!!!

totally joking about the hair thing.

I agree with the undies statement. The payment goes to your house not mine. As for me, I have the estate green.

DAVEMAN - Where did you get the ventvisors
