Angry Turn Signals On Side Mirrors

I recently inquired about having integrated turn signals on the side mirrors of the F150 I want to purchase. I swear I saw them like that somewhere before. But the dealer told me that is only available in the "King Ranch" F150, which is what I was probably looking at.

If I am mistaken, which model is it? Not that I want it but I was just wondering.

The dealer needs to learn more about his product....

Indeed, the King Ranch has the integrated turn-signal mirrors however, so does the Lariat.

Feel free to ask more questions...

Yes, it is a Lariat feature, since the King Ranch package is just an upgraded Lariat, according to the ordering guide from Ford.

The turn signals on the mirrors are standard on all Lariats. The King Ranch is a Lariat with a different trim package installed

I think there is also an aftermarket kit available with those signal arrows within the face of the mirror itself instead of alongside like the KR and I think the 2000+ Lariats. Muth or Murth or or some company like that makes them. Ask the clowns in the Lightning Forum ...they'll know.

I think the aftermarket kit is not too expensive for the side mirrors. I am choosing to get manual mirrors instead of power mirrors. Now if the F150 Sport 4x4s came with the turn signal options, then I would definitely get it.

So tell me what this King Ranch model is.

Be careful about getting the manual control mirrors if you ever plan to get the aftermarket "turn signals in the mirror". Apparently the install is not too bad when you already have power adjustable mirrors because the wire harness with the turn signal leads is already there....but with manual mirrors you may have a real project on your hands. Again...ask the Lightning guys....they know all about this crap.

That is one thing I was thinking about earlier. Since the manual mirrors have no wires or anything, it would be more difficult to integrate the aftermarket mirrors. Even though I want a Sport 4x4...I am still cheap. No power anything .

The wiring harness for the Muth mirrors uses the same pins as the Ford signals, in the harness in the door.

These are not in the mirror heads on the power mirrors. I got the XLT with the power mirror, but the Muth kit has the pins attached to long leads to get this through the sail panel, and down the door to the wiring block connector behind the speaker.

This being said, this was on a XLT. I do not know if Ford puts the same harness in the sport or not, I would think so, but am not totally sure. No power door lock, mirrors or windows I could not say for 100% if this will be there.

If nothing else you could get the turn signal leads from the block connectors under the dash, but this would reguire running the leads through the hose from the door to the body.
It is not as hard as it sounds, I did this on my last truck, and it was a case of using 14 awg solid wire as a fish tape, and running it through the wiring hose. The parking brake on the Ford makes this a little interesting, but it can be done.

Complete harness or not, get want you want, at most all it takes is time to add the Muth signal mirrors after the fact.

Just so you know, the glamor cap for the Ford signal mirror is not a complete item ( Gary at Fordpartsonline.com ). This is only the cap, and would require the harness and light to already be there.
The complete mirror head is ~ 155.00 per side, for the same mirror head as the Lariat has on it.

Those prices sound good for each mirror. Thanks for the information. I already inquired about the mirrors for the Sport 4x4, and they do not have that particular feature. However, the dealers said I could just get some power windows, and modify it later.

Now the manual mirrors are just chopping off a couple of hundred dollars off my MSRP. But there have to be kits with all of the equipment I need to change them. I would have a hard time trying to get all of the wires going through my doors, but it is probably not as hard as some people would think. But to avoid situations like this, I might as well get power mirrors. It was just another option I was considering.

2001 and 2002 lightnings come factory with signal mirrors too.

I know you were watching the costs on the total, it really is not all that hard to do, if it is even the case, if you have to fish the wire to the block connector.

If Ford really does use the same harness on all trucks, regardless of the trim then it is dirt easy for the Muth Mirrors, if that is the look you are going for.

Just wanted to clarify my post a bit, I don't want it make to look like something ungodly hard to do, that makes you put in the power mirrors. If you like the look fo the Ford signal mirrors, then it might be best, to get the power mirrors straight away, and maybe see if the dealer can order the correct ones out of the gate.
