Leather Question
Leather Question
I was just thinking about it, this weekend while driving around I was looking at the leather in the KR and I noticed a couple things.
1. Beneath the head rest on the front seats the leather looks kinda dried out and (chafey?) It's not as soft as the rest of the seat.
2. The leather has taken on a certain texture like a typical saddle or similar leather product does. Is that what you guys are getting, or do the rest of you have super smooth leather?
Just wondering, my wife put about 3/4 of a bottle of the King Ranch leather conditioner on the seats about 2 weeks ago. It made the leather take on a richer color from when we purchased it.

Hey VG
I just conditioned my interior last week for the exact same reason you mention. I noticed it more on the passenger seat and that's what got my attention. It feels a little better since the latest conditioning.

Yeah, the passenger side is more noticable. I wonder what is causing it.
I noticed it right after we got the truck, so I'm not sure if it is something to do with my wife having long hair or sweat getting on the seat. I do live in Florida, gets pretty icky here.

It's the nature of this leather. Mine has gotten a lot different with age, but I keep it conditioned regularly and it softens it up and brings the color back. You just have to realize that this leather is very prone to cracking and hardening. It requires a lot of care to keep in nice shape. Just like a saddle.
Haven't made a correlation with my seats with passenger side etc. My steering wheel has a slight 'nap' to it but, I think that's just the leather wearing naturally.
I've seen no areas of concern inside my KR. I Lexol my seats about every two weeks. I use Skagels' advice when doing this as well... I pick a very warm-hot day, condition them liberally, and then let them bake. The heat helps open the pore space in the leather and thus, helps the softness.
Good luck.
