Need Help w/ Tonneau Color Idea

Howdy Y'all,
I am buying a KR SCrew in the next few months (after the bedroom furniture is payed off) and am already thinking about any-everything mod wise you can do!
Going w/ the 5.4 , limited slip, moon roof, bed extender and probably tow package- Estate Green.

I'm asking for your 2cents on a tonneau cover idea I have.
What do you think or have you seen a cover in Arizona Beige.

p.s. I have been reading many post over the last 3 weeks and everyone has helped w/ my decision making and entertained at the same time!

Hey hey! Another green KR!

Welcome to the board.

As for your cover, if you're going with a hard cover then you could paint match one to beige and it should look nice. I'm sure I've seen someone here with a beige tonneau.

Personally, I went with the a soft cover. I got the Downey SST in buckskin color. It's a tan color, but doesn't exactly match the beige. I think it's a better color for the KR than black.

Have fun!

Hey Screwed,

Long time no talk to, hey? You got a KR? Are you holding out on us man? You are talking like you've got a KR, did you recently get one?

Hey Dave. Yep, time's been short lately so I haven't been able to keep up with the boards as much as I'd like.

To answer your question, yes, I have a 2001 green KR. I bought it in June of last year - and still lovin' it!

I've been following your KR trip thread, but to give you to sob story - Today is the first day I've had off in 14 days and it doesn't look like it's going to get any better any time soon. We just picked up a big client in SC (down your way) and they've got plenty for us to do. Oh well, at least it's not the other extreme.

Have fun!

Welcome Dake!
Hi Screwed!
Dake, I lurked here and learned a lot before I bought my KR this past fall. I thought about getting a beige tonneau cover, but I personally think that it wouldn't look as good as it would if it were mathced to the main color. It's the trim color, and a little goes a long way. Skagel has some pics of her spray-in bed liner in beige, and when I get mine it will be green to match the body. Just personal preference.
this is a good bunch here in this forum, sort of like a support group for people obsessed with their trucks. No one understands us like ourselves!
BD
PS- I got a quote for a snuglid painted to match with a carpeted headliner for $799. Good price, bad price? I have no idea.

Hey Dake,

Pardon me for not noticing you're a new member, welcome to the King Ranch Family. You should have fun and hopefully we can learn from each other somehow.

Estate Green? Hey man, I really think you should reconsider that color cause Chestnut is number 1, bar none. Charcoal blue is next and then Green. At least that's what the stats were last time I ran the numbers but a few new members have joined and I haven't updated the most popular color thread in a while.

Again, welcome and hurry up and pay off that furniture so you can splurge on that KR. I'm not into tonneaus so I'm not much help in that department, sorry.

Later,
~DM~

Hi Dake!

Welcome aboard. I have a KR and had my lid matched to the body color, Charcoal Blue. Daveman won't admit it but the blue is the best color. I have not seen any KR's with a Beige lid but I love the way mine looks. Good luck getting the truck. Keep us posted on your decsions, oredering, etc.

Hey Screwed I'm thinking about hard tonneau, but I got the idea from a soft cover like yours (sweet look) - just wasn't sure how it would look with the hard cover. Still undecided.

BroncoDave not sure about $$, haven't gotten that far. I know what you mean about trim color, but still undicided.

DAVEMAN I agree about the people and the idea - been on enough that my wife is making fun of me and my 'new friends'.
Oh yea, fewer green the better, by the way what color you have?

LINYScrew tks - I dont remember what you said. LOL but tks.

I have had my Arizona Beige tonneau since the day I bought my truck from the dealer.
They gave me the option of both colors and the beige looked far and away better with the chestnut than a matching chestnut colored tonneau.
I have had many compliments on the overall impression....
This is a photo from my gallery that shows the top better than any other pics I have at the moment.
My camera is sick back in the UK.!!
Check out a side view in the gallery taken at the King Ranch.

Hey Dake,

What do you mean what color do I have, there's only one color KR and that's Chestnut, all the others are what they use when they run out of Chestnut at the factory.

No really, there's no bad color for a KR, all of them look awsome to me but when I bought there was only one color to choose from and now I've got to support my kind.

Later,

having seen the photo of the kranch with the az beige top on it i would say that it looks best, seems to stretch the back out a bit and that is a good thing being that the bed is so short.

Yeah, that's a sweet look. I really like the AZ Beige. It's much easier to keep clean too. Chestnut, on the other hand, is not exactly 'user friendly' when it comes to clean. I'm super happy with keeping my beige clean because it shows just about nothing and, I would suspect, that is the instance with the topper.

If you don't mind me asking Lent... about how much does a nice topper like that run? What brand? It have any goodies like lights or auto-openers?

Welcome Dake,

Go with Chestnut, I did.

I originally bought the soft KR Cover from Ford to match, but ended up returning it becuase of poor design and two spots that leaked. It did look nice though.

I eventually went with the Retrax in the end. It only comes in black, but you could repaint it. It thought that's what I was going to do, but it looked great once I put it on. It fits right in to the overall color scheme since there is a lot of black trim and the tinted windows all complement it. It does show off the dirt though, but its a truck. If its too clean, its not being used right.

Take Care,

Adam
