Smile A VERY interesting day !!

Well we made it back here with a good trip except our 7 hour flight from Manchester to Philly totally spoilt by then having to stand in line for immigration for 2 hours !
Just what you want to do after being cooped up in economy for all that time!
Anyway this morning we got a cab to downtown Houston to pick up the truck and it was basically just as we had left it, though it is surprising how must dirt gets under a fitted cover!

We set off for the 7 hour (That 7 seems to be cropping up a lot) drive down to the Rio Grande but decided to break our journey in Kingsville because when we left in January we came though on a Sunday when the Saddleshop was closed.

As we entered Kingsville parked by the side of the road was

AN ESTATE GREEN KR JACKED UP ABOUT 18 INCHES SITTING ON WHAT AT A GLANCE LOOKED LIKE WHITE PAINTED WHEELS !! VERY WEIRD !!

Anyway we finally found the saddleshop…the address on their website was for the warehouse….and looked at all the goodies.
I had been trying to buy my wife a KR handbag on Ebay….but many are monogrammed so it was nice to be able to offer her a new one to her choice!

Then I got chatting to a lady in the management team who HAD TESTED ALL THE LEATHER CLEANING PRODUCTS ON OFFER before they decided on the one they now sell to go with the KR leather.
With Ford they had tested various products on the KR leather before it went into production using different methods of application.
She was most interested to hear about all the discussions on this forum and I know she will be looking in…(Hi **** ! Nice to meet you)….she didn’t want me to give out her name !!
But I can assure you all she was very genuine in her knowledge of the product and her understanding of maybe the fact that we wanted to use other alternatives .

I did come away with a KR basball hat and I can assure any of you that haven’t yet made it to Kingsville the store is well worth a visit.

Of course I’ve already washed the truck and all is well with the world again.

Nice to be this side of the pond for a while !

Lenny,

Welcome back state side. I hope you get plenty of time to enjoy your truck and feeling those fluffy leather seats.

How long you gonna be on this side this time?

That was an interesting story about the lady in the saddle shop. Maybe she will be bold enough to become a member and brag about the items they sell in the shop.

Skagel,

It's not out of the question to meet you and some others down at the Ranch. When do you want to meet? I'm ready to start planning my summer trip so if you are serious about meeting down at the Ranch then let’s start talking.

Just be careful, guys. If Skagel goes on the trip, do not let her drive behind you!

fly into dfw and i can talk my wife/kid into letting you ride with us down there. We may have to put you in the bed, but i'll lay the extender down for you so you can stretch your legs. Hell, I may even stop for a potty break if we pass by a nice trashy town with a toilet in the front yard!

Okay,

I'd like to transfer this trip stuff over to the King Ranch Trip thread so we can find closure there, if possible.

I'm game if some others are too. Let's see some folks make some concrete plans cause I'll be there if that's the case and if I can make the plans in time.

Lenny,

When are you thinking about us meeting up with you, when you are on your way back out to Houston or earlier?

Later,

DaveMan

Since my company has been purchased by a big UK group, we get a buttload of vacation now. I can probably take a four day weekend to meet up.
