Question Is there an easy way to level our KRs?

Was wondering if there is an easy way to lower the back suspension to level out the truck?

I've noticed that after a rain, the water stands on the cover near the cab instead of running towards the back and off becuase it slopes to the front. I want it to be level or slope slightly back.

If there is a way, does it affect the ride or handling? And when we start towing where the trailer's tongue weight lowers the back end, will this mod affect that too?

Basically a novice on this one, so share any ideas and thoughts that I may not have come up with yet.

Thanks,

Adam

just replace the rear shackles with shackles that are 2" longer and it will sit level....they cost about 50 bux onthe high side and take about 30 mintes to install if you have never done it before..

Odd. Mine doesn't do that...it's perfectly level.

Hey acbell,

Since it's a 4x4, you can crank up the torsion bars in the front and get near level. There are many many threads on torsion bars and I've written a procedure to do it myself and posted it out there on a lot of threads. If you can't find it then email me and I'll send you the procedure I came up with.

As far as lowering the rear, I'd shy away from that since it will severly influence your ability to carry a load in the back. I had a '97 Chevy with lowering shackles in the rear and two sheets of plywood would bottom out the rubber snubbers on the underside of the bed to the tops of the axle housing tubes.

Mine sits near level and I like that look much better and it will not reduce your load carrying capability at all. Just my $.02 worth.

Good luck and I'll talk to you later,

DaveMan

Troy,

No "Problemo" at all. It takes about 10 minutes to do and all I've done is enjoy it. If you need help with the procedure then look me up, I'll give you a hand.

Troy,

The ride is a little stiffer but that's to be expected since cranking the torsion bars creates more pre-load so the ride has to be stiffer. I kind of like the stiffer ride but it's not so stiff that it's uncomfortable.

I did it to mine also, following Daveman's instructions. It looks much better. The ride got a little stiffer going over speed bumps and such, but it didn't bother me.
