Compass needs frequent recalibration
I've had my 2001 KR for about a month now; I started enhancing it right away (limo window tint, bed liner, KR tonneau cover) and am looking at more toys as time goes on (KR breather, SuperChip, new exhaust, ???). I've had one flaw surface ... about once a week the compass in the overhead console flips over and asks to be recalibrated while driving down the road. Resetting it is easy enough, but it's a hassle ... anybody seen anything like this?
Apart from suggesting that you might be driving too close to the magnetic North Pole (Unlikely in Phoenix I think !) that's a strange one.
Haven't heard of that before unless you have mounted an extra powerful loudspeaker in the vicinity and the magnet is affecting it.
(And that's not a very serious suggestion either.....in other words....don't have a clue.
Suggest you get the unit replaced unless you just plain ignore it.
Depends how often you take the ladyfriend out into the desert I suppose !

re: Compass needs frequent recalibration
I've been watching for north pole signs ... since the compass isn't always working it might be easy to get lost - which, when traveling with a lady in the desert is not always a bad thing.
Welcome tjcannon to our KR forum....I can't help ya with your little problem for my Thomas unlike his owner is not so geographically challanged. but I would deffinately take your baby back to the dealership and demand that they replace or repare it.
Oh and might I add that I am jealous of your geographic location....I went to college at UofA and I soooo miss the weather.

Welcome tjcannon,
We've had ours since Jan and the compass has been fine since we adjusted for the variation here in the east. It was odd driving on a road I know is east-west and the comapss not showing the same. Definitely take it in for service as that would be annoying.
So which color and options did you get? Give us all the little details as "some" of us are crazy KR owners obsessed with our babies.
Is that better rock?

tjcannon,
Being a new member and even more specifically, new to the KR forum, I felt I should clarify a few things....
Skagel mentioned 'Tomas'. I bet you're wondering "Who in the heck is TOMAS?" Well, that's her trucks name. Yes, she named her truck. *shrugs* Who am I to say she's looney?
I mean heck, she went to the Univ of Arizona *rolls eyes*.
There are a bunch of very fanatical KR owners on this board (as if you haven't noticed). We love our trucks and, when it comes to questions about our trucks, 99 times out of 100 you'll be able to find an answer on f150online.com. There are some other sites out there that focus on F150 however, in my opinion, F150online.com is, by far and away, the best available on the net.
I'll stop rambling now.... WELCOME TO F150ONLINE and good luck with that compass.

i would say to call your dealer and ask him first and make sure to write down the time, all engine vitals and location every time this happens to you so they know your serious when you find the time to bring it in. hopefully the mirror is tied into the electronics and the computer stores it because if not you know that the dealer will never find the error and will try to deny you coverage.

Ya'll talk about being crazy 'bout your trucks like it's a BAD thing
Flaw in the compass notwithstanding, I love my KR. It replaced a 99 Lariat that came off lease right after the first of the year. I thought it was going to be hard to top the Lariat, but the KR has done that and more. And since I own this one I get to pick out all sorts of toys for it as well - best of both worlds!
So, that being said, I'll entertain suggestions on the order in which to add new toys. Like I mentioned at the start, I had the windows and the bedliner done, and I added the KR tonneau cover (ordered from Ford and installed last weekend - what are suggestions for next steps?

gotta agree on the line-x also, you might also go get the 3M paint protection film which will prevent nasty rock chips and get the leather conditions that skagel has so you don't get ripped off by ford for the kranch stuff.
